Shark Tank Australia is airing its season 6, which premiered on October 16, 2024, on Channel 10. The show, which releases new episodes on Wednesdays, is four episodes in. The Sharks keep a close eye on profitable deals and help the pitchers with financial and advisory roles.

In a thrilling episode 3 of Shark Tank Australia Season 6, Brisbane University students Kelric Mullen and Mackenzie Salisbury created a stir with their groundbreaking proposal for the ONE35 Camera. The Sharks were captivated by their vintage digital camera, branded as Flashback, resulting in a $500,000 agreement.

The duo came to Shark Tank Australia expecting $500,000 for 7% of the equity in their brand Flashback, but the initial offer came from Maxine Horne, founder and CEO of Vita Group, for $500,00 for 20% equity. All the sharks were thrilled to see the product and claimed that it could capture the hearts of Gen Z.

David Fogarty, founder of the popular sleepwear brand 'The Oodie' admired the exclusivity of the product and said:

"The biggest gifting product I have seen, and you are going to be a millionaire from this."

However, Maxine Horne was the one to invest in the product and join the Brisbane students in their journey to make Flashback a bigger brand. The deal was sealed at a 10% stake for $500,000 by Maxine, telling Kelric Mullen and Mackenzie Salisbury that;

"I do have a soft spot for you, so I am going to give you an offer… what a perfect thing to have a retro shark invest in your retro product."

The two friends from Brisbane University amalgamated modern and classic features in a camera, giving it a retro feel and look with the advanced digital feature. Kelric and Mackenzie launched the Flashback as a brand in 2023. The duo met while living at Cromwell College in Brisbane and came from different academic backgrounds.

Kendric studied mechatronic engineering and chemistry at the University of Queensland, while Mackenzie pursued business and film at Queensland University of Technology. The duo started with an initial $800,000 investment from a Kickstarter, and their pitch in Shark Tank Australia earned them another $500,00 from Maxine, adding to their projected growth of $3 million.

The duo was thrilled to get an offer from Maxine Horne due to her investment history with Queensland University. After they cracked the deal with Maxine, Kenric expressed his desire to work more with her and said:

"I am very excited to be working with Maxine. Especially her history with the University of Queensland who we have worked with in the past, she just seems like the perfect person for us to work with."

He further added:

"Mack and I have always been driven from the get-go. We have both dived headfirst into this. The big difference now is we’ve got some experience on our side – we’ve got some mentorship on our side."

Kenric also expressed his admiration for his partner Mackenzie, whom he credited with turning the ideas into reality. He took the credit for ideas and creativity but appreciated Mackenzie's "genius" for making their project a viable product.

Shark Tank Australia airs every Wednesday at 07:30 pm AEST on Channel 10.
