It's been a few days since Shahmaran season 2 arrived on Netflix, and the fantasy show's prophecy has generated quite a buzz among viewers. While many might have completed the show, others are still curious about the prophecy in Shahmaran, and how it connects Maran (Burak Deniz) and Şahsu (played by Serenay Sarıkaya).
The Turkish series debuted on Netflix last year with its first season, revolving around the mysterious underworld of the basilisks and their relationship with humans living above the ground.
Disclaimer: This article contains major spoilers for Shahmaran!
The prophecy was made after a snake goddess Shahmaran was deceived by her human lover Camasp, leading to the scarfing of her life. It says that a basilisk will fall in love with a charming human girl under the deceiver's bloodline, and their love story will ultimately enable the rebirth of Shahmaran.
After the chosen basilisk male finds the woman, he should make her obsessively fall in love with him, so that she happily sacrifices her life on the ground and agrees to live with the human-like snake underground, where the basilisks have been living for years.
While this prophecy will allow the rebirth of Shahmaran through the chosen basilisk and his partner (human girl), it will also bring peace between the basilisks and humans living on Earth.
What is the plot of Shahmaran on Netflix?
Being a fantasy series, Burak Deniz's Shahmaran has been widely discussed among fans and viewers for its unique take on the genre and features the relationship between snake-like people (basilisks) and humans.
The series follows the story of the legend Shahmaran, a snake Goddess who once fell hard for a human named Camasp, and they lived happily in the underworld until Camasp decided to go back to his original life on the ground.
Camasp assured Shahmaran about keeping her identity and the underworld of the basilisks a secret, but he failed. Shahmaran was deeply in love with the human and despite suffering the betrayal, she sacrificed her life to save Camasp.
Due to Camasp, the basilisks had no choice but to keep themselves hidden and away from humans for centuries until a chosen basilisk was born and fulfilled the prophecy.
In the Netflix series Shahmaran, we see Maran (the chosen basilisk male) doubtful of the prophecy, living a normal life on the ground until Şahsu Demir, a psychology lecturer moves into his neighborhood.
Şahsu lived and worked in Turkey, and her life took a U-turn when she decided to confront her grandfather and coincidently became neighbors with Maran. After interacting with Maran, Şahsu started developing feelings for him, as they both were attracted to each other.
However, Maran was aware of the prophecy and was always tense about their fate, especially when Şahsu didn't have a clue about what was going on around her. As she spent time with the basilisk, Şahsu noticed Maran's strange behavior and was curious about his family.
She later discovers that Maran is a basilisk and is tasked to fulfill the prophecy to initiate the rebirth of Shahmaran. The fantasy series featured dramatic tensions, betrayal, and twists, as Şahsu feels betrayed and decides to keep distance with the chosen basilisk.

Did Şahsu accept the prophecy in Shahmaran?
Now that Şahsu had found out that her beloved man, Maran, wasn't a human but a basilisk, she felt completely betrayed. Şahsu even wanted to stay away from Maran and move out of his life.
However, she later understands the love of Maran for her and agrees to accept the prophecy. Şahsu even discovered that her grandfather Davut was Camasp and the man who betrayed the snake Goddess Shahmaran.
Despite encountering major shockers in her life, Şahsu decided to stay by Maran's side. However, before they could complete the prophecy, Lilith, a ruthless and powerful basilisk showed up as their enemy.
Lilith wants to destroy humans as she believes they are the reason why basilisks had to suffer for centuries. But Şahsu later transforms into Shahmaran and has crucial tasks before her confrontation with Lilith.
In the end, Şahsu manages to bring down Lilith in a final confrontation despite having less powers and experience than her.
