Apple TV+'s highly anticipated series Severance is back with its Season 2 and according to Variety's early reviews, Season 2 is 'surreal, stylish and worth the wait.'
The wait part is definitely true as the sophomore season is returning after a wait of three years on Apple TV+ on January 17, 2025. While fans are eagerly waiting for Season 2, they are also wondering about the show's future ahead.
While Apple TV+ has not officially greenlit to renew the show for Season 3, creator Ben Stiller has remarked that work for Season 3 is underway, which confirms that Season 3 is unofficially renewed.
Severance stars Adam Scott and Britt Lower in the titular roles and follows the employees of Lumon Industries, who have undergone a procedure that has segregated their work life from their home life (work-life balance much).
Season 1's ending saw Mark and Helly's efforts to expose the secrets that Lumon had hidden on their severed floor and end this. Highly anticipated Season 2 will pick right from the events of this gritting finale.

Ben Stiller's comments hint Severance is ahead for a bright future
There is only seldom a show that is this hyped even before its premiere, and Severance Season 2 has achieved it, with the whole town talking about it. After a long wait for the sophomore season, January 17 could not come any faster, and fans are already thinking, will the show be renewed for another season? If yes, will there be a similar wait for it to arrive?
While only the future holds answers to these questions, the creator Ben Stiller has hinted in an interview with Collider that the show is headed for a bright future and that Season 3 is (unofficially) on its way. While Apple TV+ is yet to greenlit the show, the show's hype confirms that it would not be so hard.
“You have a responsibility to the audience that you’re going somewhere with it. That’s always been a part of it for us, really understanding where it’s heading to, and Apple’s been really supportive of that and been sensitive to what the story is and not saying, ‘Okay, this is something that has to keep going as long as it’s successful.’'
He added:
''It should go as long as the story goes, and that’s something we have an idea of, and we’re working towards as we’re starting up our Season 3 work.”
Did Severance's writer confirm a time jump for Season 3?
Stiller has always been vocal about the show's creative process and has discussed in many interviews that the plan for the show is always in motion, and they are always planning ahead for future seasons.
With the confirmation that work is currently underway for Severance Season 3, writer Mohamad El Masri let out an essential detail for Season 3 in an interview with IndieWire:
“I know there was work being done on Season 3 while they were still shooting Season 2. I’m excited to see what that time jump will be. Or if there is a time jump. I think at the end of the day I don’t know what the narrative ties up between Season 3 is going to be.”
While the statement is somewhat cryptic, a time jump can be expected in Season 3. However, details of this time jump will be revealed once Season 2 graces our screens, and we will know what might be in store for Season 3.
