In a string of encouraging updates, Ben Stiller has made subtle suggestions that Season 3 of the Emmy-winning psychological thriller Severance is in the pipeline, even as Apple TV+ remains tight-lipped about an official renewal.

On X (formerly Twitter), commemorating the Season 2 finale, Stiller penned:

“Thanks to everyone who has watched this season, hope you enjoy our season finale.”

His precise use of the phrase "season" finale instead of "series" finale has sparked hopes among fans that the saga will continue. As Season 2's finale is scheduled for March 21, 2025, industry insiders are now closely observing for any additional news from the creators.

Both Apple TV+ and Ben Stiller are radiating optimism regarding the future of the series, helped by the show's strong performance. Severance Season 2 gained more than 3 billion streaming minutes, as per The Wrap.

During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter in February, Stiller announced that a writer's room for Season 3 is already underway, a good sign that the show is progressing behind the scenes.

Despite Apple TV making it clear that the third season has not yet been confirmed, as reported by Forbes, the general buzz and activity behind the scenes have left most industry insiders sure that the show will get a new season.

Forbes' Paul Tassi even went as far as to declare a "100% chance" of a Season 3, further cementing the perception that the buzz surrounding Severance will continue into Season 3.

The metrics behind Severance Season 3 renewal

The figures behind Severance have not only impressed viewers but also executives. The show's power to create buzz and engage viewers—even before Season 2's finale—speaks volumes about its cultural relevance.

As pointed out by Matt Cherniss, Apple TV+'s programming chief:

“We have long admired Ben’s extraordinary gift for original and immersive storytelling…”

With fans theorizing over unsolved plot points—from Mark's intricate trajectory to Gemma's enigmatic position at Lumon—the team behind the show appears to have every intention of answering these questions in the next season.
