Let’s learn more about Severance season 2, episode 4’s filming location.

Where was episode 4 of Severance Season 2 filmed?

In the latest episode of Severance Season 2, we saw the MDR team, Mark, played by Adam Scott, Britt Lower’s character Helly, John Turturro’s Irving, with John Cherry’s Dylan, go out for the activity Outdoor Retreat and Team-Building Occurrence (ORTBO), in a snowy backdrop of Dieter Eagen National forest.

The outdoor location used for Dieter Eagen National Forest was Minnewaska State Park Preserve in Ulster County, located two and half hours away from New York. The beautiful location is situated on the Shawangunk Mountain Ridge and is known for its rocky terrain, several waterfalls, and three lakes.

The episode revealed that Kier Eagen, the founder of Lumon Industries killed his twin brother, Dieter, the one the forest is named after, near a waterfall, which Milchik, played by Tramell Tillman, described as the tallest waterfall on the planet.

The waterfall in Woe’s Hollow was filmed at Awosting Falls, located 1.5 miles from Lake Minnewaska, and is 30 ft. tall.

In the interview with Express, Ben Stiller, the director of the series revealed that filming in the snowy terrains was difficult. He added:

"Episode 204 was very challenging because it was all snow, and so creating the visual landscape for that episode was one of the more fun things we got to do."

Agreeing with what Stiller described, the cinematographer Jessica Lee Gagne further added:

"Minnewaska was a lot. It was a lot for the crew. We’re used to being on our sets and not going out that much, so it was difficult. But it was nice to get out."

However, actress Britt Lower who portrays the character of Helena described the experience of shooting outdoors as a refreshing experience. She further revealed:

"We had so much fun filming that episode. We were in the wilderness together and it was such a breath of fresh air to go from an office with sort-of pharmaceutical lighting to just like the wide open expansiveness of nature and we had a real true wild experience."

Other than Awosting Falls, the other locations used were Sam’s Point, where Irving’s ( John Turturro’s) nightmare sequences were filmed.
