Apple TV+'s highly anticipated show Severance is finally back with Season 2 after a long wait of three years.

The show follows the employees at Lumon Industries, who are installed with a chip that makes them into 'severed employees', separating their professional lives (innie) from their private lives (outie).

Season 2 saw the return of the main cast of the show, which includes Adam Scott, Britt Lower, John Turturro, and Zach Cherry as the severed employees.

Severance Season 2 Episode 1's dialogue between Dylan and Irving is making people wonder how much the severed employees at Lumon make.

After his 'outie experience' last season, Irving was in a haze when he came to the office in Episode 1, to which Dylan remarks "You're Poor Out There?"

While it has not been disclosed how much a severed employee makes in Lumon, The Lexington Letters hints that the employees make a nearly six-figure salary, enough to give their outie a comfortable lifestyle outside.

More on severed employees' salaries in severance in our story.

The Lexington Letters reveals that the severed employees are paid well in Severance

The Lexington Letters, an official ebook from the creators of Severance, reveals unseen secrets about the show. It is about a former Lumon employee, Peg Kincaid, who was a truck driver before joining the company.

In addition to hinting at many of Lumon's dirty secrets, she may have indirectly hinted at the salaries of the severed employees.

Peg states that she was a truck driver, and one day, she had an accident while driving where she thought (out loud) of getting a new job, and Voila! There was an ad for severed employees at Lumon just two minutes after this.

While this is spooky, she also reveals they offered her four times the salary than her previous job.

While we still do not know the exact salary, it hints that the severed employees are paid in six figures, enough to give their 'outies' a comfortable lifestyle.

In addition, Severance's pilot script revealed that a manager at Lumon earns around half a million dollars a year.

Severed employees are offered a higher financial incentive in Severance

While many would believe that the salary of a severed employee is relatively higher than that of a regular employee, the salary makes sense given the nature of their work.

The mysterious and controversial nature of the work as a severed employee would not have many candidates, so it can be inferred that the company offers a high incentive as compensation to get yourself severed.

In addition, it preys on a vulnerable individual, like Peg, who needed a way out from her old job and thus started at Lumon.

Since the company is aware of its controversial nature of work, it allows employees like Mark to leave their worldly identities and become severed employees. The cherry on the cake is the high salary they offer.

In addition, the company also gives out incentives like finger traps, which makes the employees feel that their work is rewarded enough to continue as a severed worker.

The innies believe that the high financial incentive will compensate for their immoral and unethical workplace practices, for at least their outies will live a comfortable life outside.
