Shark Tank investor Lori Greiner has built her business from scratch and is known for not just her business acumen but also her ability to lead. In a recent Instagram video, Lori shares her strategy to keep her team happy so that it stays productive.

Her approach is simple: Set clear expectations that foster teamwork and also help in maintaining discipline. She says that this helps the work environment to remain enjoyable.

One of the points that Lori highlights is to set ground rules from day one for every team member. According to her, when employees understand the culture of the company and the expectations from them, it is more likely for them to align with the mission and work towards a united goal. Explaining this, Lori says:

"For me, it's very simple. Set ground rules right from the start on how you want your company to be. The ethics, the morals, what's expected of everybody, how the team should be and your rules are very important."

Shark Tank investor Lori Greiner shares secrets to keep a team happy

Shark Tank investor Lori Greiner says a collaborative environment is important for a team to succeed. Thus, she tries to hire individuals who are "team players."

This approach means that there is no task that is beneath anyone, because the end goal for each member should be to contribute towards the overall success of the company.

She says a strong sense of teamwork leads to an engaged and motivated workforce, where the employees can support each other in times of need. Explaining the same, the Shark Tank investor continues:

"Secondly, make sure everybody is a team player. There's no job too big or too small. Everybody's there to help each other out because, at the end of the day, it's for the team to win and be the best team that it can be."

The third point that Lori stresses on to ensure that a team is happy is to identify individuals whose work and routine do not align with the company's culture. She says this is a crucial part of maintaining a positive work culture.

The Shark Tank investor advises her followers to remove these employees from the team before they can influence others. She says a single disruptive team member is enough to diminish the effectiveness of the entire workforce. She says:

"Third, if there's anybody who isn't following your rules, if they're going rogue, if they are not a team player, get rid of them. Because one bad apple, we all know, spoils the bunch."

The last point that Lori highlights in the video is to make things fun for the team. Although structure and discipline are important, she says having social activities with the team can strengthen employee relationships. She says:

"Always make things fun for your team. Whether it's going to a great restaurant, doing a party at night, taking them on a wonderful vacation, or traveling. They get camaraderie, they learn to have fun together and work together and that's the best mix. That's what I do with my team and it works. Sharing this with you so you all can do it too."

Shark Tank Season 16 episodes are released weekly on ABC at 8 PM Eastern Time on Fridays. They are later available to watch on Hulu.
