Netflix dropped its new reality series, Selling the City, on January 3, 2025. The show is about real estate agents of Douglas Elliman trying to secure luxury property deals amidst ruthless competition in New York City.
After three interesting episodes, the drama in Episode 4 takes off with two agents, Giselle and Eleonora, exploring a $40 million penthouse. Giselle mentions how she started her career in New Jersey but was now ready to work in New York. Soon, the two sit down for a chat and Giselle reveals their fellow agent Taylor was "making comments" about Eleonora. Giselle adds that she wants "mutual respect" in office.
Eleonora gets emotional but Giselle assures her saying she has "worked very hard" to get where she is and, thus, shouldn't cry. Eleonora understands Giselle's viewpoint but adds that she cannot believe Taylor is still talking about her.
Selling the City Episode 4: Jordyn and Abigail
Jordyn and Abigail are seen discussing work. Talking to the cameras, Abi explains,
"Jordyn's been in real estate twice as long as me, but I've done more business than her, especially on the listing side. I've had multiple multi-million-dollar listings in Manhattan. And she also has a lot to learn from me."
They sit down to talk about how Jordyn has been making Abi feel "not included" in the Irving listing, and leaving her out of e-mails. On her part, Jordyn argues that she does not want to overwhelm her client.
Selling the City Episode 4: The High Line
Selling the City Episode 4 shows Jade and Justin at a Chelsea property, where she briefs him on the details of the apartment. Soon, when they sit down and talk, Justin asks Jade about Eleonora. She replies,
"I don't know how many more times I can defend myself and my friendship with her. It's exhausting. I have nothing but love for her. If she called me in a 911, I would be the first person there."
Jade then describes to the cameras how Justin and Eleonora used to have a "situationship" five years ago and used to "sleep" together. Soon, it becomes clear to Justin that Jade is Eleonora's friend and will not take the "other bullsh*t."
Selling the City Episode 4: The Couples
We then see Abi and her husband Patrick walk to a place in New York where there's a queue but she wants to wait because it's going to be "worth it." The two have been together for six years, having met in college when he was a football player and she was a sorority girl.
The episode also captures Taylor and Peter walking into a restaurant. She explains how he is not her usual type but she was drawn to him at the start because he was "funny," and then they developed a chemistry.
While Patrick and Abi have a great time, Taylor and Peter are visibly tense around each other. Patrick discusses their plans to visit Italy while Peter is tense about Taylor's proposition for a staycation in New York on Selling the City.
Selling the City Episode 4: The Office Conversation
Back at the office on Selling the City, Eleonora calls the girls into her office and talks about 2024, and the work she had to put in to make the previous year a successful one. She revealed how she now wants to give back, hoping her four colleagues get the opportunities she once had.
Eleonora then talks about how, no matter how hard she has worked, there is always someone questioning her work ethics. She adds that presently such comments were coming from within the team. She then signals to Taylor who explains,
"I want to put the dynamic of the team first and move beyond this. So I'm very sorry to each and every one of you. I hope you guys can also see and understand that it wasn't just me going and gossiping to Jade. The hardest part for me is that I didn't understand why it was received in such a way."
Soon, Eleonora clears her feelings by saying that she was hurt because Taylor wasn't direct to her, adding that she wants the latter to "stand up" for herself. The rest of the team supports her, acknowledging each other's feelings.
Selling the City is available on Netflix from January 3, 2025
