The next season of Daredevil: Born Again just added a new actor to its cast, Matthew Lillard. The actor known for playing Shaggy in the Scooby-Doo franchise and Stu Macher in the Scream franchise plays an unknown role in season 2 of Born Again. This has fans excited because there are some Daredevil villains that Lillard could confront.
Matthew Lillard's casting in Daredevil: Born Again "Season 2" has fans excited about the next season, which is set to begin filming soon. However, it will probably be at least a year before we can finally see him in action. However, his still-unnamed character might probably be revealed even before the show is revealed.
Speculating Matthew Lillard's Daredevil: Born Again "Season 2" role:
As stated earlier, the actor's role in the next season of Daredevil: Born Again is not known yet. But we have come up with three characters that Lillard might play in the show. It must be noted that these are just speculations, and his actual character may end up being different. But engaging in fan theories is always fun, and that's why we are doing this. Here are our fan theories regarding his role:
- Muse:

We catch glimpses of Muse, a Banksy-inspired serial killer, in the trailer for Daredevil: Born Again. One of Matthew Lillard's most iconic roles is Stu Macher in the Scream franchise. What if Muse remains unmasked throughout the entire runtime of Born Again, and his secret identity is revealed to be Lillard's character in the next season?
However, the one reason why Lillard might not be Muse is simple: the actor is 55 years old. From the looks, Muse seems to be on the younger side in terms of age.
- Stilt-Man

Several characters in Marvel Comics lore have taken up the mantle of "Stilt-Man." Regardless of their character, all Stilt-Men have one thing in common: they all wear an armored, impenetrable suit with powerful telescopic legs. Different iterations of Stilt-Men have become arch-nemeses of heroes like Daredevil, Thor, Iron Man, and Spider-Man.
Considering that the character has fought The Man Without Fear, it makes sense for the makers behind the show to adapt a version of Stilt-Man. It is something even Charlie Cox alluded to in a 2022 Metro.co.uk interview. He said:
"The one I occasionally joke about – but I probably shouldn’t, because I don’t envision a world where it’s actually realistic that he shows up in our show – but I’ve always thought it’d be funny if Stilt-Man showed up. It’s such a ludicrous superhero, such a ludicrous villain that I just think it’d be funny if we found a way of doing that without it massively denting our credibility as an authentic truthful superhero show."
- Mister Fear

Mister Fear wears a hood and a skull mask. But the most powerful tool in his armory is the gas pallet gun. The gun shoots out a fear gas that would make the individual at the receiving end of the gun see their worst fears, much like Jonathan Crane/Scarecrow from the DC Universe. Lillard could probably play the first version of Mister Fear, Zoltan Drago.
These three characters popped up in our heads, given Matthew Lillard's experience with the horror/thriller genre. However, there are other characters he could play in the next season of Born Again.
