School Spirits Season 2 Episode 1: Release date and time, what to expect and more

Paramount+ is back with the new season of School Spirits, set to premiere on Thursday, January 30, 2025. The first three episodes will be released on the premiere day, while the others will drop weekly every Thursday.

Created by Megan Trinud and her brother Nate Trinud, this story is based on Maddie Nears(Peyton List) a teenage girl who finds herself in the afterlife at her high school. Following the mysterious circumstances that led to her death, the teenage ghost Maddie attempts to solve her murder case. She also meets fellow spirits who have died at Split High School and are stuck between life and death. Maddie could also communicate with Simon Elroy, her best friend who is not dead.

The American supernatural teen drama features Kristian Ventura as Simon, Rainbow Wedell as Claire, Kiara Pichardo as Nicole, Sarah Yarkin as Rhonda, Nick Pugliese as Charley, and Spencer MacPherson as Xavier. In the new season, we will also see new cast members including Zack Calderon as Diego Herrera, Miles Elliot as Yuri, Jess Gabor as Janet Hamilton, and Ci Hang Ma as Quinn.

Recap of School Spirits Season 1

In School Spirits Season 1, we meet Maddie Nears (a teen ghost) who is stuck in her high school. Maddie with the help of her fellow ghosts (students who were part of the dead school before they died) takes on the journey to solve the mystery of her supposed murder.

After several twists and turns and eliminating many suspects, Maddie made almost no progress towards the case. Viewers are shown the backstory of each alleged suspect ranging from Xavier (Maddie's boyfriend) making out with Claire Zomer to Nicole. However, in Episode 7, after falsely accusing the trio member Nicole, Maddie had a jolt of flashback. She saw her mother Sandra (Maria Dizzia) yelling at her on the day of her death.

Maddie almost believed that it was her alcoholic mother who murdered her. However, things take a wild turn in the season finale. It is revealed that Maddie is not dead. Maddie headed to the boiler room in the school after her argument where her body was possessed by the spirit of Janet, a ghost from the school's past. The viewers also witness Mr. Martin the villainous teacher who died from a fire that also killed Janet, argue with Janet before she entered Maddie's body.

This reveals the fact that the police never found Maddie's body. Only the broken phone and some books were rescued from the school garage and abandoned house respectively. The season finale ends with the antagonist Mr. Martin standing on the top of the stairs who seemed sorting out an evil plan.

The trailer features Maddie Nears on her journey to reclaim her body which was wrongfully detached from her soul. In School Spirit Season 2 Episode 1 titled, 'Whatever Happened to Maddie Nears?' In this episode, viewers can expect to see Maddie finally discover how was her body reclaimed by Janet's soul.

The official logline of Schol Spirits Season 2 reads:

"Picking up from the shocking Season 1 finale, the premiere episode....follows Maddie Nears as she works to bring a doubting Simon, her only connection to the outside world, back on board to help her track down and collect her missing body."

It further states:
