Kyle Sandler features in the third episode of Scam Goddess
The third episode of Scam Goddess takes Laci Mosley to Opelika, Alabama, where she confronts the man Kyle Sandler himself, and she asks him numerous questions. Kyle claimed to be a former Google employee and collected money from his clients through his start-up Round House and promised them that their investments would pay off.
However, he acquired thousands of dollars this way only to give himself an extravagant lifestyle. He founded Round House after he moved to Opelika where the news of him being a former Google employee spread through the town.
No one could know at that point that the man was a scammer and was lying about his previous employment. He naturally became a reputable person quickly and with the help of the people in Opelika, he established his start-up, Round House.
Using his company as the platform that tech companies could use to gain traction, Kyle started his scamming business as he reportedly cheated more than 70 investors and gained almost $2 million.
However, eventually, in 2016, the Round House storefront in Opelika was finally closed as Kyle was unable to pay debts. He claimed that the company lacked funds and therefore had to be shut down. Several employees were not paid during that time and Kyle decided that it was best to leave Opelika.
Ultimately, in 2018, the scammer was finally caught and was charged with accusations of abscondment and theft. After his arrest, Kyle pleaded guilty in 2019 and apologized to the people he had scammed, saying,
“Remorse doesn’t even begin to say it. I’m disgusted with myself. I’ve been blessed with a certain amount of intelligence, and I used it to hurt people and steal their money.”
He was sentenced to 63 months of prison time in March 2019. However, he only served a couple of years and was released in February 2022. Immediately following his release, Kyle had set up a GoFundMe for $2,500.
Where is Kyle Sandler who features in Scam Goddess now?
After coming out of prison, Kyle has a lot going on, both in his personal and professional life. He is currently based in Florida and hosts a podcast named Beyond The Narrative: Crime and Punishment, in which he talks about various subjects, including politics, business, and sports.
Kyle also came out of the closet and embraced his identity as a gay man. He is currently with his partner Cody, who is also from Florida and is an Account Specialist at VENUS. Previous to Scam Goddess, Kyle’s case was also featured in the HBOMax docu-series Generation Hustle.
Scam Goddess episodes can be streamed on Hulu following the day they premiere on Freeform.
