RuPaul’s Drag Race season 17 is about to conclude now that the Top 6 contestants have saved themselves from elimination. In the newly released episode 12, one of the six contestants went home after performing during a competitive lip sync battle.
The drag queens were split into pairs of three and partnered up with their fellow cast members who they got along the most. During their respective performances, each contestant was given a specific topic on which they had to showcase their storytelling skills with their partner doing an interpretive dance. Then, the queens walked on the runway as well.
RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 17 Episode 12 titled Charisma, Uniqueness, Nerve & Talent Monologues was released exclusively on March 21, 2025. The episode synopsis reads as the following:
"The queens share hilarious and heartwarming true stories in a performance challenge with a twist: their partners must act out the stories through interpretive dance. Jerrod Carmichael (Jerrod Carmichael Reality Show) guest judges."
What happened on RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 17 Episode 12?
On RuPaul’s Drag Race season 17 episode 12, the top 6 contestants competed during a series of challenges. The main task for this week is to showcase their individual identity and art through interpretative dancing. During phase one of this week's challenge, RuPaul divided the top 6 contestants into pairs of two but gave them the liberty to partner one with someone who they got along with.
Now the pairs included Sam and Lana, Suzie and Jewels alongside Lexi and Onya. After that, it was time for all contestants to prepare an interpretative dance using visual storytelling. Each drag queen was given a specific topic on which they had to write a story and their partner had to execute it visually.
Later in RuPaul’s Drag Race season 17 episode 12, when the Charisma, Uniqueness, Nerve & Talent Monologues presentation wrapped up, the queens had to appear on stage for the Ugliest Dress Ever runway category. Judges Michelle Visage, Ts Madison, Jerrod Carmichael, and RuPaul gave their feedback to each contestant about their storytelling skills.
Ts suggested that Suzie's use of facial expressions in her performance could have elevated the overall look and impressed the judges even more. Jewel's dance performance was also praised however Michelle and Ru felt Jewel didn't incorporate much of drag during her presentation.
Towards the end of the episode, the RuPaul’s Drag Race judges declared Onya and Lexi as winners. According to Ts, Onya had brought Lexi's story to life and her charisma was evident throughout the performance. The contestants who used ugly, beautiful art in storytelling, dances, and runway looks and were safe this week included Suzie and Jewels

This meant Sam and Lana landed in the bottom two. For the elimination round, both RuPaul’s Drag Race cast members had a lip sync battle where they performed on Illusion by Dua Lipa. Even though both managed to leave a lasting impression, Lana Ja'Rae was eliminated from the show after Sam managed to secure his position in the competition.
The remaining top 5 contestants include Jewels Sparkles Lexi Love, Onya Nurve, Sam Star, and Suzie Toot. New episodes of RuPaul’s Drag Race season 17 air every week on Fridays on MTV.
