Netflix's newest sports Comedy, Running Point, was created by Mindy Kaling and dropped on February 27. 90's rom-com queen Kate Hudson stars as Isla Gordon in the show.
The Running Point Pilot introduces the Gordon family, who are the proud owners of the Los Angeles Waves basketball team. But after their President Cam is sent to rehab, he chooses his sister, Isla, for the position.
We soon learn that the other Gordon siblings do not believe that Isla is fit to run the team, given her past history of engaging in an extravagant life, partying, and posing for magazines. But she is backed by her best friend Ali, the team's chief of staff.

Exploring the Gordon family dynamics in Running Point Season 1 Episode 1
We meet the Gordon family in Running Point Season 1 Episode 1, who are the proud owners of a fictional basketball team, the Los Angeles Waves. The team was led by the patriarch Jack Gordon, who bestowed its ownership to his son Cam before his death.
The family's and their children's riches are supported by the team, who make a lot of money for the team. We then meet the other Gordon children, Ness, the general manager, who was once a player but had to leave the team following his injury.
Then there are Sandy, the Financial Chief Officer of the team, and Isla, the coordinator of charitable endeavors. We learn this all through Isla's voiceover, which is a plot device in Running Point.
However, the dynamics of the team changed when Cam relapsed into his drug addiction and crashed his car. While he is sent into rehab, Isla becomes the team's new president, much to her family's reluctance.
While her family, especially her brothers, does not deem her fit to run the team, she proves in Episode 1 itself why she is the girl boss. She manages to strike a million-dollar deal with billionaire board chairman Stephen Ramirez, which makes up for salary caps on one of her players and recruits another.
Is there another Gordon family member in Running Point Season 1 Episode 1?
In addition to the Gordon family, we meet one other character in Running Point Season 1 Episode 1, Jackie Moreno. Since the episode focused on The Waves' inner workings, we learn that Jackie is a big fan of the team, so much so that he took a job at the vending machine in the stadium to be close to the team.
But he makes silly mistakes in Episode 1, like spilling things on Isla. But the episode ends on a cliffhanger, which hints that Jackie has a closer relationship with the Gordons. We learn that his mother has passed away, and he is about to meet his lawyer and cousin, Ana.
She reveals that his birth father, who was the owner of Los Angeles Waves, has also passed away, which makes Jack Gordon his birth father. With Jackie also being a Gordon and probably having a legal share with the team, things just got complicated for the Gordon siblings. Considering Jackie's love for the team, he might come for his rightful share in the next episodes.
