BTS’s Jin is back in the public eye after his military service, thanks to Run Jin. The variety show featuring Jin is packed with energy and humor: the essence of who he is and what make his fans adore him. The show comes as a breath of fresh air with a hint of nostalgia, as classic variety show elements get modern twists.
Run Jin kicked off on August 13, 2024, on Weverse, and it has been a hit from the get-go. Imagine a show that lets you tag along with Jin as he scales the heights of Mt. Hallasan or pulls off some cheeky pranks on j-hope of BTS.
Before Jin makes his debut on Netflix with the variety show, Kian's Bizarre B&B, you could check out Run Jin. The show is not just a fun watch, it has also been a significant step in his career. Run Jin offers a sneak peek into what's next for him outside the BTS bubble.
The series is an ideal way for BTS fans, known as ARMY, and new viewers to experience what makes Jin so special. It is a bridge between his past with the band and his solo journey ahead, making it a must-watch, especially if you belong to ARMY.
BTS Jin’s commitment to ARMY
One of the main reasons Run Jin is special for the fans is because BTS member Jin is closely involved in its creation. The show's head, Ryu Songhui from HYBE Media Studio's Original Content Planning Team, said that Jin thought of the name and had a say in what the show would be about.
Songhui told Weverse that Run Jin was not like other YouTube shows that are mostly about people chatting:
"A lot of YouTube series these days use a talk show format, but he seemed to like variety shows, too. He was particularly keen to do Dangerous Invitation. So we followed along and leaned into the variety show concept, planned the episodes accordingly, and focused on taking the tried-and-true variety show format and updating it to fit with newer trends."
The writer of the show, Yoo Jeong Min, talked about how much effort Jin put in. According to Weverse, Min recalled Jin telling the makers:
“I can handle some tough stuff. Feel free to really put me through the grinder.”
His passion created a memorable show for his fans, like the time he hiked up Mt. Hallasan. When you see Run Jin, you realise he ready to take on anything, which makes watching him fun and unpredictable. Clearly, he loves making his fans feel close to him.
Jin’s variety show talent, as seen on Run Jin
Run Jin has featured many guest stars from various backgrounds, from variety show pro Jee Seokjin to sports star Dong Hyun Kim, all of whom match Jin's wit. Spontaneous encounters with everyday folks, like kids in internet cafes or hikers on the trail, turn unexpected situations into entertaining ones.
The most buzzworthy guest appearance was when his BTS bandmate j-hope dropped by. It was a surprise, since Jin pulled off the teased "kidnapping" prank. Show director Yoo Jeong Min shared that it was planned down to the last detail but kept under wraps from everyone, even j-hope’s confidants! It was a chaotic episode, and one of the show's most unforgettable ones.
Jin has seamlessly adjusted to whoever he is with and whatever the show throws at him. Whether surrounded by 30 zombie extras or into a tough workout challenge, he has always aimed at creating laugh-out-loud humor. Every episode of Run Jin has some unscripted charm.
Run Jin could serve as the right warm-up before catching Jin's upcoming Netflix break. Tune into the show on YouTube and Weverse.
