Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 is currently being filmed, and the recent leak of the new black Daredevil costume from the sets has already got fans theorizing. Amidst this, new speculation from internet scooper Daniel Richtman suggests that the second season of Born Again will feature a major MCU Phase Four character, Moon Knight. This theory is reportedly backed by the idea of the new suit as first seen in the major 2010 comics crossover-storyline "Shadowland".

The rumor suggests that Daredevil or The Man Without Fear in Born Again Season 2 will form a team comprised of other New York street-level superheroes (except for Spider-Man) like Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Jessica Jones, The Punisher (probably), and Moon Knight to confront villain Fisk's anti-vigilante task force. These heroes, including Spider-Man, had played a role in the Shadowland.

The black Daredevil suit featured in the cover image above is reportedly the one from the leaked set images. In the comics, the suit is significant, wherein Matt Murdoch, Daredevil's alias, is possessed by a demonic entity of the Ninja assassin organization The Hand. It takes the combined might of Spider-Man, Moon Knight, Luke Cage, Elektra, Iron Fist, and Luke Cage to exorcise Matt of this so-called demonic entity.

However, the Shadowland storyline is far more cryptic than the original Netflix series Daredevil: Born Again. The second season of the same and The Defenders (2017) did dabble a bit into mysticism with The Hand, a supervillain organization, but the show came back grounded in realistic roots with Season 3 (Netflix series) and Born Again.

While Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 is currently being filmed, it is possible that it will begin streaming on Disney+ next year after the release of Avengers: Doomsday. Many believe that Victor Von Doom will win at the end of Doomsday, and that he may rewrite reality. Here, the black-suited Daredevil one meets is somewhat different than the one one is looking at in the comics.

However, even though Born Again Season 2 was to adapt the "Shadowland", there is one major character from the comic book event that is not seen in it: Spider-Man. The Wall Crawler can't participate in a live-action MCU show due to certain rights issues.

This was confirmed by Brad Winderbaum, Marvel Studios' Head of TV, streaming, and Animation, via an interview with Brandon Davis' Phase Hero: A Film & TV Podcast uploaded on YouTube on February 24, 2025. Explaining the rights for Spider-Man's appearance in a long-form TV series, i.e., a show with episodes of a run time of over thirty minutes, are with Sony, Winderbaum said:

"I'm not sure exactly what the rules are, but I think they have long-form television rights at Sony... he can do like 30-minute animation, I think."

However, this is not a huge issue, as two characters can easily take up Spider-Man's role in season 2. The first option is Krysten Ritter's Jessica Jones, who is already seen to have teamed up with Matt Murdoch in The Defenders. The other is Kamala Khan, because an upcoming episode of Daredevil: Born Again Season 1 will feature her father, Yusuf Khan.

While we wait for the second season, enjoy the first season of Daredevil: Born Again, which will be streaming its fifth and sixth episodes together on March 25, 2025 on Disney+.
