What does Missing You star Rosalind Eleazar think about the show's shocking ending?

There are two mysteries at the heart of Missing You. The first is the murder of Kat's father Clint Donovan, and the other is her boyfriend's disappearance. While Monte Leburne was identified as her father's killer, Kat believes there is more to this story and that Monte is taking the fall for someone else. Her hunch is right, and the ending reveals the two mysteries are connected.

Rosalind Eleazar told TheWrap about the show's shocking ending:

''I think they’re going to be pretty shocked. I don’t think anyone will be able to predict the way the story ends up. I don’t think you would ever dream of that unless you’re a genius.''

On her initial reaction after reading the final chapter of Coben's novel, she added:

''There’s a lot going on for her, it is relentless. I couldn’t believe it when I read the book and that final chapter about what happens. I didn’t think that’s where the story was going to go. It’s interesting to know whether people think that they will end up together in the end. It’s really heavy. I don’t think you can get more traumatic or dramatic than that.''

After Kat learns the truth about Clint's murder, she has to make a hard decision at the end of the show about her future with Josh. While the ending can be interpreted in many ways (but they do get back together), Eleazar opened up about her experience of shooting the final scene, saying:

“That was a really hard scene to shoot... Both Ashley and I were shattered by the end of that day because it was so heavy... there’s something quite nice about her reaching toward him in the end. I think you could read that in many ways.”

Why did Josh disappear in Missing You? Exploring the ending of Netflix's latest

The two mysteries in Kat's life were connected because it was Josh who had fatally stabbed Kat's father, Clint.

Clint was forced to work for the criminal boss Calligan after the latter uncovered Clint's secret affair with Parker. Kat's friend Aqua had seen Clint embracing Parker one night. Clint, fearing Aqua would reveal his secret affair to Kat, had followed the latter to her house to tell her not to say anything. Things, however, went out of control and Aqua picked up a knife in self-defense.

In the end it turns out that Josh had arrived at Aqua's house and fatally stabbed Clint while trying to protect Aqua. Josh then disappeared from Kat's life because, having killed her father, he couldn't bear seeing her grieving.
