Netflix recently aired Rhythm + Flow: Brazil's first four episodes on November 12, 2024. The competition show features artists selected from various parts of Brazil who compete against each other over intense rap battles.
As seen in the previous episode, six contestants, including Maria Preta, Afrodite, OGCapitu, Novak, Muse Maya, and RT Mallone, advanced to the Feats Phase of Rhythm + Flow: Brazil.
Each competitor was paired with one artist to perfect a song, and after five performances, Aphrodite, who was paired with Ebony, was up next.
What happened on Rhythm + Flow: Brazil Episode 4? Recap explored
The Rhythm + Flow: Brazil Episode 4, The Performance of Your Life, featured Afrodite and Ebony, who started their performance between the audience. They performed Pensamentos Intrusivos - Ebony feat Afrodite.
As Filipe mentioned, they could see how Afrodite was "definitely vibing" on stage while delivering her performance.
Soon, the judges Djonga, Filipe Ret, and sisters Tasha and Tracie discussed the performances. Filipe shared that he found three performers standing out: Capitu, RT, and Novak. The female judges shared that Maria Preta and Luana "got along well."
Djonga also felt that Maria Preta was "pretty cool." They also discussed how Muse Maya has "looks, style, the whole package." Despite being an "artist," they were unsure if she was a rapper.
Soon, the judges called all six contestants and shared their decision. The participants moving to the next round were Novak, RT Mallone, OGCapitu, Maria Preta, and Afrodite. Muse Maya was sent home, whose parting words were:
"I think I took more risks than the other contestants. That's why I don't think their choice was that fair. I think my sound is much more than rap. What can I do if I don't fit in? If I'm not "rapper" enough for them?"
As for the chosen five contestants who advanced onto the show's next round, they learned more about the further competition.
Filipe shared:
"This next round involves a single. This track requires everything that you have. You'll have to consider the hook, you'll have to find an impactful line for the hook. You'll have to consider the verse, the length of the verse, everything, down to the intro."
They also mentioned that there will be a dual elimination after the upcoming round.
Next round on Rhythm + Flow: Brazil Episode 4: 3 Days to go
The participants went to the studio, even though they had a few days until their performance in the next round. As they arrived at the studio and discussed it, they saw two artists, KL JAY and Negra Li, join them. They were there to advise the contestants on their upcoming phase of the show.
Later on, the competitors met Zegon, the producer. He was described on the show as:
"One of the nation's great producers of rap and hip-hop."
Each participant shared their ideas about the songs they would be writing, and he would be producing. Each had particular things and messages they wanted to share and include in their songs. The producer discussed various ideas and how to include whatever the rappers wanted to share.
The next day, participants went to the studio and recorded their songs. When there was only one day left for their performance, they all discussed how, with each round, things were getting more intense and that they had come a long way.
They also went for their rehearsals, which were hard because they were supposed to memorize the song they had written just a day ago. During the rehearsals, they were assisted by a vocal coach, choreographer, and additional teammates.
Rhythm + Flow: Brazil Episode 4: Performance day
The first performance was by RT Mallone, who sang his original song, The Elephant in the Room. His song was a tribute to his brother Vandinho, who died on the day of RT's audition for Rhythm + Flow.
The second performance was by Maria Preta, who performed her original song, Rhythm and Life. According to her, the song described the "indigenous" self. She also came barefoot on the stage to stay more connected.
Next was OG Capitu, who performed Route. To witness her performance, her mom came, for the first time, to see her daughter performing and to surprise her.
With three performances, the episode still had to feature the remaining participants, including Novak and Afrodite. However, Rhythm + Flow: Brazil Episode 4 ended before their performances.
Fans must wait for the upcoming Rhythm + Flow: Brazil episodes to be released to know what happened further in the competition show.
Netflix will air Rhythm + Flow: Brazil Episodes 5 and 6 on November 19, 2024.
