RHONY star Jessel Taank recently appeared in an interview with Newsweek published on October 28, 2024. The female cast member revealed various things before her appearance at the Hayu FanFest in London.
While chiming in on the RHONY's fellow cast members, the current season's filming, and related issues, Jessel Taank opened up about working in reality TV and associated aspects.
The RHONY star opened up about working for the show and more.
"For the most part, I think when you sign up to be on a TV show that is literally following your life and your reality, you can't curate, and you can't filter it because I don't think people would want or would appreciate that."
She continued,
"If you are trying to be someone you're not or if you're trying to show something that's not accurate, I do think people can sniff it out, the Reddit FBI will sniff it out."
RHONY star Jessel Taank shares working in "reality TV" and how her experience has been so far
The fashion publicist and RHONY cast member Jessel Taank became the first South Asian cast member for the Bravo franchise. Along with her, fellow cast members include Sai De Silva, Ubah Hassan, Lizzy Savetsky, Brynn Whitfield, Erin Lichy, and Jenna Lyons.
Fans who follow the Bravo show must know that Real Housewives of New York cast member Jessel Taank does not "hold back." As the female lead herself shared in her Newsweek interview on October 28, 2024,
"There's always an element of, 'Oh my god, what did I do?' or 'What did I say?' I have a knack for just saying what I think, which gets me into trouble."
Jessel also mentioned getting "overreactions" from fellow females, while she often comes off as simply "honest and blunt," among other things. She also shared how being on reality television has been about "literally" being followed through "life."
RHONY star added more about facing online backlash,
"Obviously I'm not in this world. I haven't been in entertainment, I'm actually the girl behind the camera usually. I'm the publicist that makes things happen. So for me to be on the other side of that was really overwhelming. I think it's the number one thing that people, unless you're in it, you cannot really, truly, understand what it feels like."
The Bravo cast member revealed how things have been "overwhelming" and "eye-opening" for her since joining the show, and that too not in a "good" way. Jessel also mentioned getting her head around initially; since then, she "sort of" understood things.
Since then, the female cast member has been able to look past such things and mentioned how things in entertainment and reality TV are supposed to be "fun."
The RHONY cast member talked about how viewers sometimes have different mindsets about certain aspects of an incident only after witnessing a "30-second snapshot" and not getting the entire picture.
"You're just a little bit more aware of what those repercussions are once you say it, and how that can potentially implode or explode. So I think everyone in the cast is a little bit more, just, kind of eyes wide open this time around," shared Jessel Taank.
Jessel Taank concluded her interview by hoping that people would get to know her since she has been "authentic" and that after being a part of "reality TV," the cast can't really "hide anything."
Talking about hidden things, she also mentioned that she fears people finding out about the "other people" she has dated. She called such incidents "scary and wild."
Fans can stream RHONY on Bravo on Tuesdays and Peacock on the next day.
