Great news for all Resident Alien fans! The offbeat sci-fi comedy-drama from NBCUniversal is set to return for Season 4. If you haven't watched it, the show is based on a Dark Horse Comics series and tells the story of Harry, an extraterrestrial played by Alan Tudyk, trying to blend in with the folks of a town in Colorado called Patience. The third season had the fans on the edge of their seats, so expect the fourth one to keep you guessing.

Resident Alien moves from Syfy to USA Network for Season 4, and showrunner Chris Sheridan has been dropping hints that we're in for a ride. It looks like Harry might get an unwelcome takeover from a creature called a Mantid, and relationships the townsfolk share are going to get even more complicated as they get sucked into Harry's alien world.

Sheridan elaborated on the situation to TV Insider, saying:

“The walls are closing in on Harry…with more people being dragged into the alien storyline.”

With Earth's fate hanging in the balance, expect plenty of action, surprises, and chaos on Resident Alien as Harry resorts to his signature fish-out-of-water antics.

A recap of what happened in Resident Alien Season 3

Resident Alien Season 3 was full of cliffhangers. Harry's secret as an alien was finally out in the open, which led to weird team-ups, like Harry and General McCallister joining forces with the military to take down the Grey aliens.

Things, however, didn't go as planned, and the Greys ended up winning, and kidnapping Harry and his son, Bridget, on their moon ship. It was a shocker when Harry's bird-alien friend, Heather, turned out to be a traitor, and there was a new twist on Resident Alien, with a shapeshifting Mantid pretending to be Harry.

In Patience, things started getting crazy. Sheriff Mike finally started seeing the alien truth right in front of him, and Liv's unwavering belief was finally vindicated. Max and Sahar's escapades trying to solve the alien mysteries brought the necessary lighter moments.

Season 3 wrapped up with General McCallister doing something unexpected — she stepped into a mysterious portal and we have no idea what happened to her.

Looking ahead to Season 4, the show's creator, Sheridan says:

“It’s about survival and unity… Patience needs to rally together against the threats lurking within and beyond.”

What can we expect in Resident Alien Season 4?

Season 4 is gearing up to look into the aftermath of the reveals in Season 3. Harry's time in captivity and the Mantid pretending to be him will stir the drama. Asta, Harry's best buddy from the human side, might have a tough time spotting the Mantid as the fake Harry, despite her strong bond with him.

Sheridan, who's making it all happen, says:

“Mantids are experts at shapeshifting, so Asta’s going to have to be pretty clever.”

It's not just about Patience anymore. The new Resident Alien season widens the scope and looks into more alien shenanigans.

Sheridan believes that:

“Alien encounters are not confined to one town.”

Moreover, the interactions among the folks in Patience will surely get more interesting, with Sheriff Mike and Deputy Liv's relationship growing stronger as they work together, and maybe even a love connection brewing between Asta and Joseph to regale viewers.

There could might be a budget squeeze affecting how many episodes we get in Season 4, and who we see in them, like what happened in Resident Alien Season 3. Sheridan and the whole team, however, will try to keep the going as good as always.

Resident Alien Season 4 will air on USA Network; also available for streaming on Peacock.
