Reasonable Doubt has returned for its second season after a long wait. With season 1 ending on cliffhangers such as a deranged client-turned-lover kidnapping Jax and her best friend Shanelle seemingly killing her own husband, season 2 promises to be a wild ride.
Other newcomers include Essence Atkins as Dr. Brandy Michaels, a domestic violence expert; Vaughn W. Hebron as Adrian Hunter, an ex-NFL player and mentee of Shanelle’s deceased husband; and Melissa Ponzio as Lucy Wargo, a new District Attorney. Veteran actor Morris Chestnut has also joined the cast, portraying defense attorney Corey Cash.

The characters of Reasonable Doubt are as grey as it gets. The protagonist, Jax, played by the supremely talented Emayatzy Corinealdi, is a lawyer who likes to use the law as per her own convenience. Her ways and tactics are often frowned upon, but when needed, she always turns out to be the best.
1) Emayatzy Corinealdi as Jacqueline “Jax” Stewart
Emayatzy Corinealdi stars as the protagonist Jax. In season 1, she got herself in a tricky situation by getting involved in a lustful relationship with her client Damon (Michael Ealy). That relationship led to her kidnapping, and to deal with this traumatic event, she is taking a break from work in season 2. Her personal life isn’t looking great either, with her marriage falling apart and her best friend being charged with murder.
Corinealdi has previously worked on projects such as The Invitation, Gun Hill, and Addicted.
2) Morris Chestnut as Corey Cash
A new addition to the second season, Morris Chestnut will portray defense attorney Corey Cash. He is media-savvy, suave, and extremely calculating—just what Jax needs to help her best friend with her murder charges.
Chestnut’s past works include Boyz n the Hood and The Brothers.
3) McKinley Freeman as Lewis Stewart
McKinley Freeman will reprise his role as Lewis in Reasonable Doubt season 2. As Jax’s husband, he is in love with her but also wants her to find a better way to balance her work and personal life.
Freeman has previously starred in Loved to Death and Hit the Floor.
4) Tim Jo as Daniel Kim
Tim Jo stars as Jax’s right hand, her own private investigator, who ensures that Jax has all the details regarding a case. He is intelligent and good at his work, offering both quick results and comedic relief. In Reasonable Doubt season 2, his primary job is to find the level of Shanelle’s involvement in her husband’s murder.
Tim Jo has previously starred in This is Us, Pitch, and Glory Daze.
5) Angela Grovey as Krystal Walters
Angela Grovey stars as Krystal Walters, the other part of Jax’s official team. As her administrative assistant, she often gives Jax good advice.
Besides Reasonable Doubt, Grovey has worked in notable series like 30 Rock and Modern Love.

1) Aderinsola Olabode as Naima

3) Victor Rasuk as Mike Ortiz
A dedicated DA, Victor Rasuk stars as Mike Ortiz in Reasonable Doubt. Despite having a history of rivalry with Jax, the two have often depended on each other for various cases.
4) Pauletta Washington as Mama Lu
Pauletta Washington will reprise her role as Mama Lu, Jax’s mother. Although she tends to become overly involved in Jax’s personal life, it stems from her motherly instinct.
