Reacher star Olivier Richters hypes up the Reacher Vs. Paulie fight in Season 3's Persuader storyline

With only eight days left for Reacher Season 3 premiere, fans are naturally excited with anticipation. This season will adapt Lee Child’s seventh book, Persuader, from the Jack Reacher series.

Besides the fact that Reacher Season 3 is adapting a fan-favorite book from the series, one of the key highlights of this season is the introduction of the gigantic villain Paulie, played by Olivier Richters. The man is 7’2” tall, and when compared to Reacher’s 6'2", he indeed makes the latter look like any other normal human being.

Given the fact that Reacher is the protagonist of the show, he was naturally the most physically intimidating character till now. Played by Alan Ritchson, Reacher never failed to assert his dominance whenever he simply walked into the room. However, with the introduction of Paulie, fans must get ready to witness something epic happening between these two.

Olivier Richters has hyped up the fight sequence between Paulie and Reacher in Reacher Season 3

Olivier Richters, who has joined the cast of Reacher Season 3 as the main villain Paulie, has assured that the audience is in for a treat this season, thanks to the fight that will be taking place between Reacher and Paulie.

In an exclusive interview with Empire, Richters mentioned,

“The effort they put into Reacher versus Paulie is astonishing. We might be a little bit immortal in the fight, because it continues for so long. I’m not going to say we’re going to win an Oscar for the fight scene, but it’s going to be spectacular.”

The intensity of the fight scene had required Richters to train for five hours every day and maintain a meal consisting of 7000 calories. When the preparation has taken this much effort, it can very well be expected how spectacular the results are going to be.

Besides talking about his own scene and preparations, Richters also mentioned his admiration for Alan Ritchson, saying that he considers him the real-life Reacher. In that same interview, Richters said,

“I said to [Alan] as a joke, but it’s kind of true, that he’s really Reacher in real life. He has so many lines to learn, he has to perform, he has to eat continuously, he has to show up for the fight-training after filming all day. It’s inhuman, what he does. It’s a level I can only dream of.”

His words show how respectful and admiring he is of his co-star, something that is essentially important while sharing the screen, more so when there is a massive fight involved.

Nicknamed The Dutch Giant, Richters has previously worked on projects like Black Widow, Borderlands, and Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.

More about Reacher Season 3

Premiering on February 20, 2025 Reacher Season 3 will only have one returning cast member from the previous two seasons besides Reacher. Maria Sten will be returning as Frances Neagley, who, despite being in all the seasons of Reacher, has not been mentioned in the books.

New cast members besides Richters include Anthony Michael Hall, Sonya Cassidy, Robert Montesinos, Brian Tee, Johnny Berchtold, and Daniel David Stewart playing the roles of Zachary Beck, Susan Duffy, Guillermo Villanueva, Quinn, Richard Beck, and Steven Elliot, respectively.
