Reacher has proven to be a major success for Prime Video as the Alan Ritchson starrer continues to top the streaming charts. The show recently finished airing its action-packed third season, which has been praised by audiences and critics alike.
Based on Lee Child’s novel series, the show follows the titular former military officer who takes down some dangerous criminal every season. In the latest installment, he teamed up with the DEA to go against a former intelligence lieutenant colonel and a criminal enterprise.
Now that the third season has come to an end, audiences are eager to know if and when there will be a Reacher Season 4. Fans may not have to wait for a long time to see Alan Ritchson back on screen as the show has already been renewed for a fourth season.
Reacher Season 4: Renewal status
Reacher Season 4 has officially been confirmed by Prime Video. The renewal was announced back in October 2024, months before the season 3 premiere, considering the show’s popularity. At the time, Amazon MGM Studios released an official statement through the studio’s head, Vernon Sanders, which read:
“Reacher has become a phenomenon that continues to resonate with our global customers beyond our wildest expectations, and we are thrilled to bring the series back for an additional season.”
Reacher Season 4: Potential release date
The show has so far followed a somewhat streamlined release schedule. The series premiered in February 2022 and was followed up by a second season in December 2023, which got delayed by a few months due to the advent of the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes.
The third chapter premiered in February 2025. The filming for the fourth season is scheduled to begin in the summer of 2025. Considering that each season takes around a year to be produced, Reacher Season 4 is expected to be released in the summer of 2026.
However, we need to wait for an official announcement by Prime Video. Meanwhile, a spin-off of the show based on Frances Neagley is also in development. The show, titled Neagley, has already begun production, but its release date remains to be revealed.
Reacher Season 4: Which Lee Child novel could be adapted next?
Prime Video has not yet confirmed which Lee Child novel will be adapted into Reacher Season 4. The novel series features 29 books, with a 30th on the way, so the creators have several choices to choose from.
The show has not followed a chronological order so far, and instead, the first, 11th, and 7th books have been adapted into the initial three seasons. The debut season was based on Killing Floor (1997), the sophomore season adapted Bad Luck and Trouble (2007), and the third season was based on Persuader (2003).
Meanwhile, cast members have already chosen their favorite novels from the series that they would like to be turned into the next season. In an interview with Men's Journal, Maria Sten, who plays Frances Neagley, said she wants Without Fail, the 10th book in the series, to be adapted into Reacher Season 4.
On the other hand, lead actor Alan Ritchson wishes to see Die Trying, the 2nd book, on screen. Meanwhile, Lee Child has chosen the 23rd novel, The Midnight Line, as his personal favorite. It remains to be seen which book the creators decide to go with eventually.
As for who will star in the upcoming season, the cast keeps changing every season based on the storyline. The only two actors who have appeared in all three previous seasons are Alan Ritchson as Jack Reacher and Maria Sten as Frances Neagley. The duo will likely reprise their roles in the fourth season and will be joined by a fresh set of cast and characters.
The first three seasons of the show are available to stream on Prime Video.
