Prime Video’s Reacher Season 3 has found a worthy antagonist in the form of Xavier Quinn, which adds more expectations for the next season as well. Season 3 of the action series, which is currently underway, introduced the audience to the villainous Xavier Quinn (played by Brian Tee), a former army intelligence officer who goes by his pseudonym Julius McCabe. He is running a criminal operation, which is being investigated by Jack Reacher (played by Alan Ritchson) and the DEA.
While in Seasons 1 and 2, we see Reacher be spontaneous while handling the villains, but in the latest season, he comes across as more strategic. One of the reasons could be because of Quinn’s unabashed personality, making him one of the more dreaded villains on the series yet.
It is revealed that Reacher believed he had killed Quinn during his military days, but to his surprise he finds him alive. While the other villains in the series were unable to create a lasting impression, Quinn's menacing ways could lead to a grand showdown between the two. This also clears the path for a bigger antagonist in Season 4.
After having shown the more strategic and intellectual side of Reacher, the audience may need a little more than just action in the next season. The introduction of a bigger and more shrewd antagonist in Season 4 could potentially raise the stakes even higher, keeping viewers on the edge of their seats.
Season 3 of Reacher is based on Persuader, the seventh book in the Jack Reacher series by bestselling author Lee Child. The show is written by Nick Santora, who also serves as showrunner and executive producer along with Child and Ritchson.
What do we know about Xavier Quinn in Reacher Season 3?
Quinn was part of the military intelligence when he murdered Dominique Kohl (played by Mariah Robinson). Kohl was one of the people under Reacher’s charge in the army. Reacher shoots Quinn as retribution for her death and leaves him.
While Reacher assumed Quinn was dead, in Season 3 it is revealed that he is alive. The only thing that remains from the incident is his memory distortion, which resulted from the gunshot.
Reacher has always used his brute strength to fight the enemies; this time around he is more tactical owing to Quinn’s ruthless approach in dealing with those who oppose him. Frances Neagley (played by Maria Sten) will also point out that Quinn and his people are trained soldiers with enough weapons that could result in irreversible damage. Hence, Reacher cannot afford any mistakes.
At the end of episode 7, Reacher figures out that Quinn had set a trap for Beck (played by Anthony Michael Hall), putting him in danger. The finale of the season could see a face-off between Reacher and Quinn.
