Reacher Season 3, so far, has proved to be more brains than brawn. Reacher has to rely on his intelligence to outsmart the bad guys. Not just because there is someone bigger than him this season, but also because there is someone who got to him before he could even cement his place in Beck's organization.

And who might that be? The henchman with a shady past, Ángel Dole. Or Angel Doll, as his grandma lovingly called him after he won the most beautiful baby contest at the county fair, which Reacher found hard to believe. And well, maybe us too.

But one cannot deny the fact that it was, in fact, Ángel Dole who was the first to find out that Reacher is actually on an undercover mission. When things didn't add up in the impound lot Ángel Dole suspected that Reacher might be trying to cover up something.

Let's explore how Ángel Dole found out that Reacher was probably an infiltrator in their operations.

Reacher Season 3: Ángel Dole

Ángel Dole used to be in the military but after he s*xually assaulted someone, he was dishonorably discharged. Thereafter, he spent some time in prison before joining Beck and his buddies in their shady business.

Ángel Dole was too talkative for his own good. And that's what got him killed. He was smart and maybe sharp. But he wouldn't have gotten too far in Reacher's world with those traits.

He had a knack for stories, as is seen in Episode 2 of Reacher. He makes up a story in the impound lot, to convince the officer to let him and Reacher in. However, he is also hot-headed.

When the officer refuses to let them in, his hand reaches down to his gun. Thanks to Reacher, the cop lives to see another day, though with, perhaps, a swollen red nose.

How Ángel Dole found out that Reacher was probably an infiltrator

Ángel Dole had his suspicions from the beginning. He was suspicious when Reacher took too long at the stop for a washroom break and coffee. He also wondered why Reacher didn't let him shoot the cop.

His doubts were further fueled when he spotted the bodyguard's car in the impound lot. He recognized the car and said:

"You said a bodyguard blew up in here? Cleaner than my f*cking car. Doesn't make any sense."

But Reacher had already warned Duffy, who in a hurry, tried her best to do a quick makeover of the car. Unfortunately, all she could do was change the number plate. But that wasn't enough to fully convince Ángel Dole. He said:

"Crazy. It's the same exact make and model, even all f*cked up in the side. It's like that car hit this car."

Once back in his warehouse, Ángel Dole couldn't help but reflect on the events of the day. He started putting together the puzzle.

He realized that Reacher was probably stalling when he asked him to make a stop to use the restroom. This bought, whoever Reacher was working with, some time to change the plates.

He then wondered why Reacher didn't let him shoot the officer. He concluded that probably Reacher himself is a cop, which is why he prevented an officer from getting shot.

To top all of that, Reacher had told Beck's people that he had broken into a minivan and hotwired it to rescue Beck's son. But, Ángel Dole observed that there was not even a single scratch on the steering column. So, Reacher didn't use a screwdriver to break into it. So, Ángel Dole was certain that there was no break-in.

Furthermore, if one hotwires a car, the stripping of the wires would cause the insulation to fall on the mat. But there was nothing there.

Also, how can a car of the same make and model be in the same impound lot? It was also damaged and had dents in the exact right places. And yet, there was no blood or any gory remains of the bodyguard, who supposedly blew up in the car. Things were not adding up, and Ángel Dole knew why.

He solved the puzzle and realized Reacher was either a cop or he was working with them. His findings led to nothing but his death. But that's the cost one pays for crossing Reacher.
