Reacher and Agent Susan Duffy venture out to L.A. in Reacher Season 3 Episode 7 and a new face, Mrs. Daniel, is revealed in the early minutes of 'L.A. Story". She is portrayed as Teresa's grandmother and the character relies a lot on Duffy for getting her grandchild back, safe and sound.
Though the latest episode has elements of romance, comic relief, and a bit of drama, it is equally intense and has set the bar for the much-anticipated finale. Neagley is back with Reacher and as expected has done her research on Quinn.
On the other hand, Zachary Beck becomes desperate to protect his son after Reacher spills the beans on the ex-military officer's true intentions surrounding the Beck family.
He helps Reacher with the big weapons deal but it seems like Quinn has already sensed something fishy and is a step ahead of Reacher. Things will only heat up further after what happened in Reacher Season 3 Episode 6 and here's what the seventh chapter holds for us.
New faces are revealed and Neagley makes a much-awaited return in Reacher Season 3 Episode 7
Reacher Season 3 Episode 7 brings another classic Neagley moment where she tracks down a man named Costopoulos who sent hired gunmen to get her killed. However, the face-off only comes with disturbing revelations about Quinn.
Neagley learns Quinn was set up in Chicago five years back and Costopoulos used to be his fixer. Quinn took over a family business there as the front of his illegal operations and when the people involved wanted to back out, he ended up murdering all of them.
Viewers also find out that Quinn then moved on to his next prey in Portland, Maine (Zacahry Beck) and plans to do something similar with them once his mission is accomplished. This major lead becomes a turning point in driving the plot forward.
On the other hand, Teresa's grandmother Mrs. Daniel makes her first appearance and is seen worried about her beloved granddaughter. However, with an officer like Duffy on Quinn's case and Reacher's field experience, Mrs. Daniel is hopeful that Teresa will soon be back.
Reacher and Duffy corner Darien Prado
Darien Prado has been a prominent name through Reacher Season 3 and his appearance in the latest episode is significant. Reacher and Duffy show up at one of Prado's parties and corner him to search his den. However, it was probably a sneaky move on Reacher's part to get Darien Prado to call Beck to a rendezvous for a cash transaction.
As seen in Episode 7, Reacher and Duffy had inside information on a handicap placard on Prado's car. On further digging, they get in touch with the medical expert who helped falsify Prado's arthritis diagnosis and also learn that the doctor did so under a threat of violence from Prado.
Darien Prado thus gets cornered and with Reacher portraying a picture of how his three violent felonies might get him life imprisonment, the former is forced to give up. He is seen calling Beck to arrange a meeting and Reacher has bigger plans in mind.
Reacher takes help from Neagley to extract information from Zachary Beck
Reacher's plan works out and Beck shows up at the fixed venue. But to everyone's surprise, Neagley appears out of the blue - again a sneaky move by our hero.
She spills the beans to Beck about Quinn's cruel intentions and also reveals his real name. Neagley is seen talking about the family who died in Chicago and tries to grab Beck's attention on how much of a danger Quinn poses.
However, Neagley uses her expert skills to try and persuade Beck to spill more information on Quinn's big weapons deal (taking place with men from Yemen and the U.S., thus giving them the best chance to execute a smooth, subtle terrorist attack). She finally finds out that the buyers will land on a private airstrip to execute the transaction.
Teresa is alive and Quinn is already a step ahead of Reacher and his associates
Ever since Quinn discovered the moles inside Beck's operations (the maid from the ATF and Reacher), he has grown suspicious. He thus changes his entire plan, shifts Teresa to a new place and sets up the venue of the weapons deal in a place no one would ever imagine.
On the other hand, fans witness Teresa in person for the first time. She is seen confined in the basement of a secluded building in a remote location and has been drugged by Quinn - quite a tragic scene to witness.
The plot further unfolds as the scene shifts to Neagley tailing the buyer from the airfield to where they'll go next. While she is keeping track of the men, Reacher learns from Beck that the transaction will take place at 9 p.m. at Bullhead Salvage Yard, a place located outside Maine.
The timing coincides with Zachary Beck's birthday party and Quinn has already made sure that the former does not let his son leave the mansion while the deal takes place.
The ATF comes in for the showdown
Things heat up between Reacher and Duffy in the closing moments of Episode 7 after the latter reveals her plans to bring the ATF in. She explains to Reacher that they need the support given the fact that Quinn already has an army lined up to back him.
However, the ATF's involvement in the case makes Reacher infuriated as he wants to take justice into his own hands - quite evident from that Batman-like dialogue:
"I want vengeance."
It is obvious the ATF plans to bring Quinn in after getting a hold of him, and when Reacher realizes bringing them in might make him lose the one last chance to avenge Dominique Kohl's death, he lashes out.
However, after a discussion with the ATF, Duffy and Villanueva come to the point that they (along with Reacher) will wait in the surveillance van during the operation.
But we know how difficult it is to hold Reacher within the confines of a room or a vehicle, especially when it comes to seeking justice for someone so close to him. We thus see him take a gun and leave the van followed by Duffy.
She tries to warn him of the dangers but it goes to vain. Meanwhile, Reacher gets on a call with Neagley and as he lines his sniper to scout the area, a black SUV pulls up and he says:
"The buyers are here."
In a shocking twist, Neagley reveals she's still following the buyers and something dawns on Reacher. The moment Zachary Beck steps out of the car and Neagley reveals she's tailing the buyers along the coastline (going towards Beck's mansion), Reacher realizes that Quinn has played Beck.
He probably sensed danger coming in and changed the location of the sale at the very last minute and will now take place inside Beck's house during his party. Xavier Quinn is thus one step ahead of Reacher and the episode's ending leaves a lot of questions on how our hero will stop the deal from happening.
