Reacher Season 3 Episode 6, 'Smoke on the Water,' dropped on March 13, 2025, at 3 AM ET on Amazon Prime Video. As the action-packed crime thriller is nearing its season finale, viewers are excited to find out whether Jack Reacher (Alan Ritchson) could avenge Dominique Kohl's death and rescue the missing DEA undercover informant Teresa Daniels.
However, the most awaited face-off of the season between Reacher and Quinn didn't turn out as expected. In Reacher Season 3 Episode 6, Reacher had all the reasons and the conditions to finally take down Francis Xavier Quinn, but why did he prevent himself from doing so? Jack Reacher found evidence that Teresa Daniels, the missing undercover DEA informant, might be alive and under Quinn's custody.
The episode began with Jack Reacher determined to meet Francis Xavier Quinn and avenge his fellow partner's death (Dominique Kohl). Reacher and Zachary Beck reached the Bizarre Bazaar warehouse to finally meet Quinn (Brian Tee). When Quinn came near Reacher, he drew his gun closer to shoot him. However, Quinn failed to recognize Reacher, the man responsible for nearly killing him a decade ago (or at least he pretends to). Quinn seemed quite irritated with Zachary Beck and applauded Reacher for handling the Angel Doll incident well.
A shocked Reacher asked Quinn whether he recognized him from the past, to which he replied he has amnesia (Xavier Quinn could have been diagnosed with amnesia as a consequence of what Reacher did to him in the past).
Here's what we know about Jack Reacher's decision to not kill Xavier Francis Quinn in Reacher Season 3 Episode 6.
Why did Reacher not kill Quinn in Reacher Season 3 Episode 6?
Jack Reacher was determined to kill Francis Xavier Quinn from the beginning of the season. The reason? Years ago, Quinn, a former lieutenant colonel turned criminal, sold military classified information to enemy nations. Jack Reacher and his colleague Dominique Kohl were tasked with the operation of exposing Quinn's secret dealings. However, Quinn brutally tortured and murdered Kohl when she came to arrest Quinn. Reacher thus tried to kill Quinn as revenge, but he did not die.
In Reacher Season 3 Episode 1, when Reacher saw Quinn alive after a decade, he decided to join hands with the DEA to infiltrate Zachary Beck's business, which seemed to have a partnership with Quinn. Meanwhile, DEA agent Susan Duffy wanted Reacher to find an undercover informant, Teresa, who went missing from the Zachary Beck mansion. In the previous episodes, viewers witness how Reacher skillfully gets closer to Beck to finally assist him in meeting his business partners.
In Reacher Season 3 Episode 6, when Reacher and Beck went to meet Quinn, Reacher was ready to kill Quinn. However, due to amnesia, Quinn forgot about Reacher and his past. Reacher then witnessed one of Quinn's men taking a woman's customized dress to a cabin. When Reacher was gazing at it, Quinn understood and said that it belonged to a girl they captured earlier. Quinn stated initially he wanted to kill Teresa as she overheard some secret dealings. However, he did not kill her, as he wanted her to be an escort for one of his clients to finalize the deal.
Even though Reacher's primary deal was to avenge Kohl's death and kill Francis Xavier Quinn, he understood that Quinn was not an immediate danger for him. Now that Reacher knows that Teresa is alive, he is determined to rescue Teresa. Killing Quinn in a rage would only be a foolish mistake that would remove the biggest clue needed to find Teresa Daniels.
Although Reacher does not kill Xavier Quinn at the moment, it does not imply that he would not avenge Kohl's death. If Reacher can rescue Teresa from the clutches of Quinn and his men in the upcoming episodes, viewers might witness the most awaited faceoff sooner than expected: Reacher vs. Quinn.
