Reacher Season 3 Episode 4 just dropped, revealing a major plot point. Julius McCabe is, in fact, Francis Xavier Quinn.
In the beginning of the episode, Beck tells Reacher that McCabe is in charge of everything that happens in the organization. Thereafter, when Reacher meets Duffy, she shows him a picture of McCabe, which confirms Reacher's doubts as he says,
"I knew him as Xavier Quinn."
"The guy I thought I killed."
Well, then how is he alive? This is where the story begins. Reacher, finally, tells Duffy and Villanueva what makes Quinn aka McCabe "the single worst person" he has ever known in his life.
This article explores the reason behind Reacher's hatred towards Quinn, and what could happen in the upcoming season after the big reveal.

Reacher Season 3: Reacher finally reveals why Quinn is "the single worst person"
Episode 4 is majorly told through flashbacks of Reacher handling a case that involved Quinn. He was assigned E7 Sergeant First Class Dominique Kohl to assist him in the case, which they refer to as "the Gorowski case".
Dominique Kohl, according to General Garber, wasn't a "soup sandwich". She was a "doer". And Reacher realizes that within a few minutes of meeting the bright girl from Elkhart, Indiana.
Soon, they set out on a stakeout, believing that Specialist Roland Gorowski was making dead drops at a local park. However, it turned out to be a dead end.
Reacher then decided they needed to bring in Gorowski for interrogation. Kohl excelled in the process, thoroughly impressing Reacher with her sharp instincts and precise questioning. She asked all the right questions, ultimately making Gorowski spill the truth. As Reacher put it, she was "sharp as a tack."
It was revealed that Quinn had been selling confidential military information to a Syrian national, Safwan Qasim. Reacher, along with Kohl and Frasconi, tracked him down and took him in for interrogation. With Quinn now cornered, everything was set for his arrest.
Reacher believes Kohl should make the arrest since she cracked the case. She then heads to Quinn's place. Soon after, Reacher grows worried when there is no communication from her.
When he finally texts her, he receives a reply from her phone. But it's clear it’s not from her. Reacher had told her not to call him "sir," and she was someone who never needed to be told twice; cementing his worries.
Ultimately, it is revealed that Quinn killed Kohl and hanged her body. A furious Reacher tracks him down and shoots him in the head.
Cut to the present day, Beck informs Reacher that Angel Doll's laptop is missing. The laptop contains all the shipment schedules, so it's important for McCabe. A tracking app shows that it’s at a commercial tubing facility owned by Beck and his men. Now, Reacher must eliminate whoever has the laptop.
Oh, and by the way, McCabe has already sent three men to the location.
What could happen in Reacher Season 3 Episode 5?
One thing that has been established so far is that Reacher and Quinn have faced each other in the past. Reacher remembers Quinn's face, so naturally, Quinn must also remember Reacher. After all, who would forget the guy who shot you in the head?
So, does Quinn already know Reacher is undercover? Well, if that's the case, then the fact that he makes Reacher Beck's new lieutenant could hint that he’s playing the long game, leading Reacher to believe he is outsmarting Quinn. But in reality, it’s Quinn who is orchestrating every move Reacher makes.
However, this is just a speculation. Only the upcoming episodes will confirm what would happen between Reacher and Quinn.
Episode 4 ended on a cliffhanger. As Reacher reaches the commercial tubing facility, he will probably have to deal with Quinn's men first. Given Reacher’s tactical skills, he might set up another fake ambush to mislead them or take them down one by one.
However, the bigger challenge lies in the laptop. If McCabe has already sent his men to retrieve it, Reacher must act fast. He might need to come up with a believable explanation for why the laptop ended up there in the first place. Perhaps he has to frame another player in Beck’s organization or plant false data to mislead Quinn.
Meanwhile, Duffy is out searching for Teresa completely unaware of the situation Reacher is in. With no signal she won’t be able to warn him of any new developments or provide backup. So, if something goes wrong, Reacher is entirely on his own.
Another thing to notice is when Villanueva tells Duffy:
"Has it occurred to you that if Reacher hadn't f*cked things up with Quinn from the start, we wouldn't be in this mess? Reacher kills people off the books and doesn't seem to have a problem with it."
By this, he could be blaming Reacher for not handling Quinn properly, suggesting that if he had, Teresa would not have gone missing.
It's also possible that the DEA agents might want to pull Reacher out because Beck isn't their real target after all. If they find Teresa, they might not need Reacher anymore. Anything is bound to happen. But with Quinn still in play, pulling Reacher out might be the worst mistake they could make.
On the other hand, his friendship with Richard is growing, so the next episode might explore that further. With Reacher’s help, Richard could finally find the courage to stand up for himself.
Also, the repeated focus on the maids raises suspicion. Could one of them be hiding a secret identity?
Broadly, the episode will likely show Reacher settling into his new role within Beck’s organization. But how long can he keep up the act before Quinn catches on? We'll have to watch to find out!
