Reacher Season 3 Episode 5 tragically kills off agent Steven Eliot as Susan and Villanueva make a narrow escape

Susan and Villanueva make a narrow escape at the tubing facility after they got help from Reacher. Two of Quinn's men (who were after Angel Doll's laptop) get killed in the confrontation.

However, Reacher forbids Susan from killing all of them as it would raise suspicion if every hired man of Zachary Beck (except Jack Reacher) were found dead. Reacher then disposes of the dead bodies down the cove close to Zachary's mansion with the help of Harley, another recruit of Quinn.

While Susan and Villanueva were looking for Teresa at potential facilities of Zachary Beck's dirty business, junior agent Steven Eliot was left to keep an eye on John Cooper - Richard Beck's bodyguard. However, Cooper uses his persuasion skills to convince Agent Steven for a smoke.

As he turns back to get a cigarette from his jacket, Cooper picks up a bottle beside him on the table with his mouth. It had some alcohol-based liquid inside and Cooper takes a sip and keeps it down.

When Steven comes back to help him light the cigarette, Cooper blows air and the flame throws back, all over the young agent's face, leaving him severely injured. The bodyguard then kicks him down and knocks him out, eventually crushing his skull with his feet shortly before he escapes.

Reacher stages an accident to kill Cooper and avenge Steven's death

The moment Susan learns about Steven's death, she alerts Reacher for possible incoming threats. However, we again witness a smart Reacher who devises a plan to avenge Steven's death.

He asks Villanueva to:

"Get to the blind turn that leads to Beck's house. Pull over 40 yards south and empty the car. Make it as light as possible."

On the other hand, Reacher informs Susan to blow out the local transformer so that he can have the most appropriate excuse to leave Zachary's mansion during a blackout. Soon after, Reacher and Villanueva meet at their discussed location.

They flip over Villanueva's car (after quite some struggle) to make it look like an accident. Reacher's sharp mind then prompts Villanueva to crawl under the overturned car and lie still.

The narrow exit leading to Beck's house connects the only possible route that Cooper could take to reach his house. Things, thankfully, go as per Reacher's calculations and Cooper soon arrives at the scene. He stops his car just in time to avoid collision with the flipped vehicle.

As he stoops to check whether anyone inside is alive, Villanueva opens his eyes and throws a cold stare. Within the blink of an eye, he is shot in his head from behind - another cold Reacher moment as sweet revenge is earned.

Reacher Season 3 Episode 5 finally paves the path for a face-off between Reacher and Xavier Quinn

After finishing his bit with Cooper, Reacher returns to Zachary's mansion - to find Harley, Zachary and Paulie waiting for him in a tense mood. Sensing something is off, Reacher prepares himself for self-defence but soon learns it is about something else.

One of Zachary Beck's maid (who was working undercover for the ATF) gets her cover blown and ends up dead after McCabe orders a search of the entire house staff. She is killed off soon after by Paulie and his dark jokes on how he got the job done, agitates Reacher.

Another Reacher v/s Paulie moment culminates, but this time our favorite hero is almost knocked out. In a later conversation with Susan over the phone, it is learnt that Quinn is supplying guns to international drug lords and Angel Doll's laptop even had evidence of lubricants being used to keep the ammunition in good form.

Soon after, Zachary comes up to Reacher and breaks the news that they will have to go down to the main Bizarre Bazaar warehouse to meet the big boss aka McCabe or Xavier Quinn.

Worried about how things might escalate with Teresa, Susan asks Reacher not to go. However, Reacher makes a cold revelation to her that Teresa is no more (given the kind of treatment these men give the moment they spot a spy).

The final scenes of Reacher Season 3 Episode 5 build up more tension and excitement as Reacher arrives at the warehouse with Zachary Beck to meet Quinn. His closing lines leave the perfect Jack Reacher vibe:

"I've been waiting for this moment for some time now."
