Reacher Season 3 has hit Prime Video with three episodes out already. And things are getting even bigger (hint: Paulie). This season, he is not just flexing his muscles, he is flexing his brain too.

Season 3 of Reacher promises us a show that balances brute strength and sharp intellect. And as usual, our favorite drifter takes on a brand new mission.

We’ve always known Reacher as the guy who can punch through walls and knock out bad guys in one swift move. But this season hints at a more strategic and calculated side of him.

So do we see a smarter Reacher rather than a stronger one this time? The answer is... well, it’s not an either-or situation. This season proves that brains and brawn go hand in hand.

Let's know more!

Reacher Season 3: Action meets intelligence

Alan Ritchson, who plays Reacher has made it clear in his interviews that Season 3 is going to be even better. Not just in terms of action but in how Reacher deals with his enemies.

Ritchson had earlier mentioned how he thought the action could have been better in Season 2. So this time, he worked closely with the show’s creative team to make sure the action sequences weren’t just explosive. But also were well-crafted and engaging. In Season 3, you can expect a Reacher who doesn’t just fight his way through problems but outsmarts his opponents too.

He gets into Zachary Beck's organization. He is a wealthy but shady businessman. But before he can get to Beck, he has to deal with Paulie. In Reacher Season 3, Paulie is Beck’s massive bodyguard played by Oliver Richters. At 7’2” and built like a mountain, Paulie is an unusual challenge to Reacher.

Gone are the days when he could just throw a punch and be done with it. This time he’ll need to use his wits to figure out how to take down a man even bigger than him.

Reacher Season 3: Reacher gets under Paulie’s skin

The show builds up Reacher and Paulie's tension early on. It sets the stage for an inevitable fight. However, instead of jumping straight into a brawl, Reacher gets under Paulie’s skin with his signature wit and mind games.

One of the standout moments is at the gym where Paulie seems to be bench pressing. Upon asking Reacher how much he benches, Reacher responds saying he doesn't know because he thinks it's "stupid".

Paulie is then suddenly in the mood for a bench press competition. He approaches Reacher, who suggests something better. He says:

"Bench press proves nothing. If you really wanna know who's stronger, Bavarian arm wrestling."

This scene in Reacher Season 3 explores a humorous angle. Reacher, with a completely serious look on his face, makes Paulie sit in the arm-wrestling position. He makes Paulie's fists extended as he explains the rules of the game. Paulie listens intently and is all set to win. But just when he thinks he’s got it, Reacher lets go of his hand and Paulie’s fist crashes into his face.

But does this all mean there will be less action? No. Instead, we get a Reacher who’s just as lethal but just a bit more methodical. Reacher Season 3 is shaping up to be the most intense season yet. Especially with Reacher’s signature dry humor.

So, if you like a Reacher who relies more on his brains, you'd like him this season. Watch for yourself how smart our favorite drifter can get in the latest episodes on Prime Video!
