Created by Nate Trinrud and Megan Trinrud, School Spirits premiered in 2023 and was quite well received by the audience and critics alike. After a wait of almost two years, the Paramount+ supernatural drama is back with its second season and will be premiering on January 30, 2025.
School Spirits follows Maddie (Peyton List), who finds herself stuck in the afterlife, and as she starts investigating her own disappearance, she finds more lies and secrets on her way. While School Spirits Season 1 finale had answered questions about Maddie’s death, there were multiple new storylines that were left to be explored.
Let's examine Peyton List's thoughts on the upcoming season 2 and whether the unanswered questions from the first season will be addressed as Season 2 premieres today.
Peyton List promises School Spirits Season 2 will answer questions from season 1
In an interview with PEOPLE Magazine, List said, while referring to questions that were left unanswered in season 1,
“All of the questions will be explained this season in great length.”
She further added,
“At the end of the first season, questions are answered, and then there's more that comes up after, and I think that's similar with season 2. We get a huge resolution, and then we get a whole other problem.”
Regarding the problem, as is hinted by the trailer for School Spirits Season 2, Mr. Martin (Josh Zuckerman) might be the person giving rise to these new questions. List also mentioned,
“Everyone has so many questions about who this person is that they thought they knew for decades. He has the belongings of each person from when they died, so everyone wants to know why and what exactly they might mean. And Mr. Martin and Janet, they're very intimate, so it's everyone wants to know [why]. It's a big clue that leads to everything else.”
This clearly sets up the premise of season 2, and along with this, the relationship between Maddie and Wally (Milo Manheim) will also be explored and shown to be growing, as confirmed by List.
“People that are a fan of that relationship will be really happy because there's a lot of moments between them [in season 2]. Maddie's finally able to accept the circumstances, and she's able to pay attention to this boy that's in front of her that she was ignoring for the first season. She's finally letting him in.”
But she also said that their relationship doesn't make Rhonda (Sarah Yarkin) happy because she's a lonely character, and it makes her jealous and frustrated to see Maddie find love and companionship so easily.
