Release details of Prison Cell 211
Prison Cell 211 will drop on Netflix on February 5, 2025. According to IMDB, the show will have a total of six episodes.
The official synopsis for the show reads as follows:
“A human rights lawyer’s routine day becomes a nightmare when he’s trapped in a border-town prison riot. To survive, he must pose as an inmate. Can he blend in, or will his own darkness turn him into a criminal as dangerous as those around him? Inspired by true events.”
Netflix's Prison Cell 211 is based on a true story
The series is inspired by the real-life riots that took place in a state prison in Ciudad Juárez on December 31, 2022. On January 1, 2023, many gang members ambushed the Cereso number 3 state prison on armored vehicles and opened fire on prison guards.
The inmates took this chaos as a chance to start a riot, which resulted in 30 inmates escaping. The violent incident left many inmates, guards, and gang members dead.
Prison Cell 211 is inspired by this event, with a human rights lawyer caught in the chaos of it all. The story will also remind you of Cell 211, where a prison guard gets caught up in a prison riot on his first day. He poses as an inmate to escape the violent riots that leave many guards dead.
The show exchanges the prison guard with a human rights lawyer, who was on his scheduled visit to the prison when the riots broke out. The show will explore how he poses as an inmate to save his life and whether he will be able to make it out alive from the prison.
