Preacher is a supernatural drama from the creators Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, and Sam Catlin. It is based on a popular comic book series of the same title which was first published in 1995 and ran for 75 issues before ending in 2000. It was created by noted comic book writer Garth Ennis, illustrated by Steve Dillon, and had cover art by Glenn Fabry.
The show brought the dark Vertigo comics to life on screen. The show ran on AMC from 2016 to 2019. The plot revolves around a hard-drinking, hard-hitting preacher with a troubled past, an Irish vampire with a drug problem, and a tough woman who can hold her own in a fight who come together in a small Texas town.

The characters in Preacher are not always heroes. The show is about Jesse Custer, a preacher who gets strange powers after doubting his faith. He uses these powers to do what he thinks God wants.
1) Dominic Cooper as Jesse Custer
Jesse Custer is the main character in the comic book and TV show. He's a former criminal who became a preacher but wasn't very good at it at first. Jesse's life changed when he merged with Genesis, the child of an angel and a demon. This gave him the power of the Word of God, which let him control people's minds by simply telling them what to do.
2) Joseph Gilgun as Proinsias Cassidy
Cassidy's character on Preacher, based on the graphic comics by Garth Ennis, represents the ultimate expression of TV's fascination with vampires. Although some traits were taken from the comics, Joe Gilgun's portrayal of Cassidy is a crazy and a humorous spin on what pop culture perceives vampires to be.
3) Ruth Negga as Tulip O'Hare
Tulip is Jesse's girlfriend. She learnt how to shoot from her dad who died in a hunting accident when she was young. She also lost her mother during birth. As a result, she had to learn to take care of herself early on. In her 20s, she met Jesse and they fell deeply in love. They made a living doing illegal jobs together.
4) Graham McTavish as The Saint of Killers
William, known as the "Saint of Killers", earned a reputation as the Butcher of Gettysburg during the civil war. After his death, he was sent to Hell, where he was doomed to relive the death of his family over and over. Each time, he sought revenge by killing everyone in Ratwater, a cycle that lasted forever. DeBlanc and Fiore visited him, offering a deal: kill Jesse Custer and they'd set him free.
5) Ian Colletti as Eugene Root
Eugene Edward Root, also known as Arseface, is a boy with a severely deformed face and speech difficulties. His father wouldn't let him go to church because of his appearance. Eugene thought God was punishing him for something he did. But when he got back to Earth and saw that Annville was destroyed, Eugene believed God had saved him for a reason. His nickname and struggles stem from deeper issues, including his father's abusive behavior.
6) Pip Torrens as Herr Starr
Herr Starr is the leader of The Grail which made him Jesse Custer's enemy. As a former Wehrmacht soldier, Starr was all about following the rules and doing his duty.
This caught the attention of The Grail, a secret organization that convinced him that they were the best way to fight evil. Starr quickly took on the role of Sacred Executioner after rising to power, but his goal was to become even more powerful.
7) Derek Wilson as Donnie Schenck
Donnie Schenck, known as the "Bunny Man," was a Civil War re-enactor. He served as Odin Quincannon's right-hand man. He was into BDSM with his wife until Jesse Custer mistakenly thought it was marital abuse after his son told him about it. When he found out Jesse was on the run, he surprisingly offered him a place to hide, deciding not to be the bad guy after Jesse spared his life.
8) Tom Brooke as Fiore
Fiore, an angel from Heaven, was in charge of Genesis. But when Genesis broke free, Fiore and DeBlanc showed up on Earth in human disguise. They found out that Genesis had merged with Jesse Custer, so they tried to remove it from him. But after they finally managed to extract Genesis, it somehow ended up back with Jesse. This left Fiore and DeBlanc with no choice but to turn to the Saint of Killers to take out Jesse.
9) Noah Taylor as Adolf Hitler
Adolf Hitler, the former leader of Nazi Germany, took his own life and ended up in Hell. But then something unexpected happened - he managed to escape after Eugene Root arrived in Hell and seemed to be a changed man.
However, it turned out that he was just biding his time, working as a sandwich maker under the name David Hilter, while secretly plotting to regain power in four years. But his plans were thwarted. He was sent back to Hell with Eugene.
10) Anatol Yusef as DeBlanc
DeBlanc is an angel from Heaven who takes care of Genesis. When Genesis broke free, DeBlanc and Fiore came to Earth in human shape.
11) Colin Cunningham as T.C.
Theodore Charles, or TC for short, worked for Marie L'Angelle. He was devoted to her, even though he had his doubts. When given a chance to start over, TC chose to stay loyal and meet his end in the Tombs with Jody. City officials also knew him for his disturbing behavior involving animals.
12) Julie Ann Emery as Lara Featherstone
Lara Featherstone is a Grail servant in Preacher. She reports to Herr Starr. She tells him about Jesse Custer's powers. Tulip, Cassidy and Lara Featherstone used a fake name to get close to Jesse.
13) Tyson Ritter as Humperdoo / The Messiah
The last living descendant of Jesus Christ appears in the show. You first see Christ in a guest role in season 2, then as a recurring character in season 3, and finally as a main character in season 4.
14) Mark Harelik as God
God is the creator of everything in The Preacher. Heaven, Earth, and Hell are among the things He created. He also created all the beings that exist. His angels call him the beginning and the end, the Truth, the one who brings new life, and the path to follow - a shining light. For some unknown reason, God left Heaven.
15) Lucy Griffiths as Emily Woodrow
Emily Woodrow is a down-to-earth single mom of three kids. She worked as a waitress and also helped out at her church, playing the organ, doing bookkeeping, and assisting Jesse in various ways.
16) Betty Buckley as Marie "Gran'ma" L'Angelle
A spiritist with real powers, who can cast spells and even bring back the dead - but it comes with a cost. You can either pay the price or make a deal that'll slowly drain your soul, keeping Gran'ma young and vibrant. She's a tough, no-nonsense woman with a sharp mind, and Jesse's only living family member who truly cares about him.
17) W. Earl Brown as Hugo Root
Hugo Root is the Sheriff of Annville in the TV series Preacher, and also a mean-hearted dad to Eugene Root.
