Fans of Percy Jackson and the Olympians received an encouraging update regarding season 2 which adapts the second book, The Sea of Monsters. Based on the beloved five books of the original series, season 2 is darker than the previous season because Camp Half-Blood, the one safe haven for our heroes, is under attack.

Actor Walker Scobell, who plays Percy Jackson in the Disney+ series, was interviewed by Den of Geek at the SCAD TVFest. In that interview, Scobell promised that an iconic moment from The Sea of Monsters would be adapted for the second season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians.

What did Percy Jackson and the Olympians actor Walker Scobell say about the upcoming season?

Alec Bojalad and Brynna Arens, from Den of Geek recently met Percy Jackson and the Olympians' Walker Scobell at the SCAD TVFest. Scobell assured Arens and Bojalad that one of the most exciting episodes of the season would be the fourth one, in which a mythical battle involving two sea creatures, Charybdis and Scylla, is brought to life from the book. Scobell said:

“It’s its own movie to be honest. I remember that was the first table read we did where we hadn’t read it beforehand. They wanted us to all read it there and experience it for the first time.”

Based on the quote above, it is clear that the Scylla and Charybdis fight will be one of the pivotal scenes in the upcoming second season of the Percy Jackson and the Olympians TV series. Walker Scobell also had this to say in another interview with TV Insider:

“This season has a lot more action than last season for sure. I feel like last season was very much like, we would stay in one place and have conversation and then there’d be an action sequence, you know what I mean? It was awesome. But this season, the stakes are higher for our characters, so it almost feels like there’s never a place where we just stop and talk. We’re almost always doing something, which I think it fits this book perfectly. There’s just so much at stake for our characters.”

What is the Sea of Monsters about?

While the previous season saw Percy return the stolen lightning bolt to Zeus, this one will revolve around Percy and Annabeth attempting to retrieve the Golden Fleece. The Golden Fleece is a powerful mystical object that can cure anything.

They need the fleece because Thalia's tree, which protects the camp, is poisoned, making it vulnerable to monsters. The journey that Percy, Annabeth, and Tyson undertake in this book is an homage to Homer's Odyssey. The synopsis for the book reads:

"When Thalia’s tree is mysteriously poisoned, the magical borders of Camp Half-Blood begin to fail. Now Percy and his friends have just days to find the only magic item powerful to save the camp before it is overrun by monsters. The catch: they must sail into the Sea of Monsters to find it. Along the way, Percy must stage a daring rescue operation to save his old friend Grover, and he learns a terrible secret about his own family, which makes him question whether being the son of Poseidon is an honor or a curse."

If the upcoming season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians follows The Sea of Monsters closely, our heroes will be on an Odyssey to the mythical Sea of Monsters, which is located in the Bermuda Triangle in the Rick Riordan book.

Are you looking forward to the second season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians which is based on The Sea of Monsters? If you are, you can binge the entire first season on Disney+. Also, consider re-reading the second book written by Rick Riordan if you want.
