Paradise Season 1 ended on March 4, 2025, and the finale resolved the key question regarding President Bradford’s murder. While the killer was finally revealed, he turned out to be a rather unexpected person and what was more interesting was the motive that fueled the murder.

Besides the resolution of the murder plotline, Season 1 also dealt with the other existing storylines, including the ones concerning Xavier and Sintara, and the finale laid out a solid base for the already confirmed second season.

Let us now explore in detail the happenings of Season 1 Episode 8.

The following article contains spoilers.

Trent turned out to be President Bradford’s killer in Paradise finale

Much of Season 1’s mystery was built around President Bradford’s killer. The series finale finally offers the answer and it is not someone that could have been guessed. Throughout the episodes, much investigation was made into the President's murder and it was thought that since he was killed while digging into how Sintara was running the place, his murder must be related to that.

However, when Sintara told Xavier that the DNA found at the scene of crime did not match anyone enlisted in Paradise, all of these speculations were put to rest. It meant that someone who had snuck into that place was the killer and that finally revealed that it was the librarian Trent who murdered the President.

While Trent turning out to be the murderer was a surprising thing, his motive was quite solid. It turned out that Trent had a long harboring grudge against the President, as when he was working as a part of the crew designated for destroying the Colorado mountain to build the Paradise, he came to know of its damaging side effects to the workers and tried to stop the project.

However, his words were not considered. He was fired and the project continued. Trent grew mad and tried to kill the President once outside the White House, which failed and got him sent to jail.

Even after getting out, Trent could not let go of the idea and somehow managed to make a place in Paradise with a random woman posing as his wife. He was living as a librarian, and unfortunately, on one fine day he saw the President again in his bathrobe, everything came back to him and he just went ahead with his murderous plan.

Xavier decides to venture into the outside world in the finale

After the murder of the President is solved, Xavier considers going outside Paradise to search for Teri and to see if it’s safe to venture outside. Whether the chances of Teri’s survival are not very high, and Xavier himself wasn't certain about going out and looking for her, with some external pushing, he finally decides to do it.

This decision of Xavier sets up the premise for the second season as the viewers can expect to see what he discovers outside will be focused in the next installment. Moreover, it was also shown that Sinatra was in a coma and Jane was totally in her element of a psychopath, which further laid the base for the next season.

Paradise can be streamed on Hulu.
