What happened in episode 1 of Paradise

In episode 1, during the investigation, Xavier Collins learns about Samantha Redmond, a wealthy lady who sold her business for billions before the apocalypse. She still runs everything, even though she is not the president.

When Xavier entered to look for President Cal, he found his body lying in a pool of blood. He locks the house to observe things around for a while and finds that the attacker has stolen something from his safe. In further episodes, he might discover what was there, which might be some confidential documents. Therefore, mystery around these elements might spike in episodes 2 and 3.

What to expect in Episodes 2 and 3 of Paradise?

The logline for episode 2 reads:

Agent Xavier Collins is interrogated. Samantha Redmond (codename Sinatra) begins to reassure the community as she reflects on how she got to Paradise.

And the logline for episode 3 states:

Isolated, Xavier seeks answers on his own and cautiously turns to Dr. Gabriela Torabi. Meanwhile, Billy and Jane feel the pressure from Robinson’s investigation.

Samantha had two kids, of which the son died due to a terminal illness. Before the apocalypse, Samantha gets to know about climate change and its looming catastrophe. She decides to save her daughter from the disaster, which is not very far away.

Samantha is told that the only way to keep herself safe is to be deep underground, where the effects of a tsunami can't reach. This is how the paradise city was built. Now, people have wisely chosen to live there. Xavier becomes a part of it when he saves President Cal and takes a bullet for him.

Cal also seems to be dealing with some personal problems with his wife, who is determined to leave him after his term is over. After Cal's death, Xavier, who saw Cal alive for the last time, becomes the prime suspect; therefore, a sword appears to be hanging around his neck throughout the episodes. However, later a polygraph clears him of suspicion when he confesses that he hated President Cal as he considers him responsible for his wife's death, but not to the extent of killing him.

Gabriella Tarabi, who was Cal, Samantha, and Xavier's therapist, comes into the radar of the investigation. Later it is revealed that she is the one who is appointed by Samantha to decide the true nature of humans and see who all are eligible to live in Paradise City.

She reveals to the prosecutors that Cal once shared his distrust of Billy, his security agent, who was also on duty on the night of the killing. While Xavier still thinks it is someone even more powerful behind President Cal's murder.
