More on the Outlander Season 7 finale in our story.
Jane's tragic death in the Outlander Season 7 finale
William learns from his father, Lord John Grey, that Jane is held at the meeting house, and as per martial law, there would be no trial, and she would be executed immediately. Learning this, William is adamant about saving Jane and goes to Jamie for help to sneak her off at night before her execution.
The two men set to free Jane from her fate and are ecstatic to learn that only one guard is on duty. They enter the meeting house, and while Jamie distracts a guard, William runs upstairs to save Jane, only to realize that they are late as Jane had already slit her wrists and died.
While William is visibly shaken by Jane's death, Jamie says a prayer for the girl, and they both leave the meeting house when Jamie hears more guards approaching.
The following day, William brings Jane's sister Frances to Claire and Jamie, bringing the ultimate twist in the Season 7 finale.
Exploring Claire's Master Raymond vision in the Outlander Season 7 finale
To refresh everyone's memory, Master Raymond was an apothecary who Claire met in Paris after losing her daughter Faith. While he is also shown as a time traveler in the books, Master Raymond is an excellent healer who healed Claire of her infection after she almost died in childbirth.
Grief-stricken because of her stillborn baby Faith, Claire was on the verge of death when Master Raymond healed her with his magic touch, which hints at the man's mysterious healing powers. After Claire had healed, he promised to meet her again someday.
In the Outlander Season 7 finale, while Claire is healing from her surgery, she visions Master Raymond, who appears wearing a cloak and asks for Claire's forgiveness. When Claire questions him, he says, 'Have faith,' and vanishes. While Claire is confused about her vision, she reveals to Jamie that Master Raymond hinted that she would meet him and her daughter Faith once again.
Is Faith alive in Outlander? How does the Season 7 finale ending set up the show's last season?
Faith, Claire, and Jamie's stillborn daughter has been one of the most emotional tragedies for the couple on the show. Claire was plagued by her daughter's memories in the finale, especially after she saw Frances' mother's locket, which had FAITH engraved on it. But she shook it off as a mere coincidence.
In the show's final moments, as the Frasers are packing for Fraser's Ridge, Claire hears the same 1907 song she sang while holding Faith's body in Season 2. When she follows that song, she sees Frances singing it, hinting that her mother Faith might be Claire and Jamie's daughter.
Hearing a 1907 song in the eighteenth century clearly shakes Claire, and she says to Jamie, 'I think our daughter lived,' hinting that Faith was somehow brought back to life after Claire and Jamie left Paris.
This shocking finale sets up Outlander for an interesting final season, as the Faith storyline will be explored further in it. The couple will finally learn the truth about their daughter. Did Master Raymond heal her and bring her back to life? If this were truly the case, why did he not contact Claire to deliver her baby? Is this why he asked her for forgiveness in Claire's vision? Guess we will have to wait for Season 8.
