Outlander Season 7 part 2 began airing on Starz on November 22, 2024. Like all the previous installments, the new season also features some fascinating characters. While some of these are inspired by history, others are fictional creations of the writers.
Season 7 makes the ensemble all the more special as Jamie, Claire, and Young Ian return to Scotland after spending years away in the war. With their comeback, the audience gets to see familiar faces who have not been featured in the show for many seasons.

1) Caitríona Balfe as Claire Fraser
Caitríona Balfe has been playing Claire Fraser since the inception of the show and reprises her role in the seventh season. After working as an army surgeon in the American Revolution, Claire returns to Scotland with Jamie and Young Ian.
Even though she is back home, the war still affects her actions and decisions. When Lord John Grey orders her back to America to care for his nephew, she is separated from Jamie again and the couple goes through an emotional turmoil.
Balfe is famous for her appearances in shows like H+: The Digital Series and The Beauty Inside. She has also starred in the films Now You See Me, Ford v Ferrari, Belfast, and Money Monster.
2) Sam Heughan as Jamie Fraser
Sam Heughan returns as Jamie Fraser, a Highland warrior. After finishing his time in the Continental Army, Jamie focuses on protecting his family but must deal with the results of his past choices.
Things get harder for him when Claire is called to America. However, he stays dedicated to his loved ones and is ready to face any challenge to keep them safe. Apart from Outlander, Heughan has been a part of shows like The Couple Next Door, Doctors, and Island at War.
3) Richard Rankin as Roger MacKenzie
Richard Rankin plays Roger MacKenzie in Outlander season 7, a kind and determined man with a tragic past. Roger lost his parents during World War II and was raised by his mother’s uncle. Even though he had a loving home, he often felt the pain of not having a close family.
In season 7, Roger faces a massive challenge when his son, Jemmy, is kidnapped by Rob Cameron. He then travels back in time to find him and refuses to give up until he is reunited with his son. Rankin has earlier been seen in shows like Thirteen, From Darkness, and The Syndicate.
4) Sophie Skelton as Brianna “Bree” MacKenzie
Sophie Skelton stars as Brianna "Bree" Fraser MacKenzie, the daughter of Jamie and Claire, who is as courageous as her parents. She is married to Roger. In the 1980s, after Roger travels back in time to find their missing son, Bree is left to protect their daughter, Mandy.
She also has to deal with another trouble as her coworker is planning to steal gold tied to her family. Skelton is known for her performances in TV series like Casualty, So Awkward, and Waterloo Road.
5) John Bell as Young Ian Murray
John Bell plays Young Ian Murray, who travels back to Scotland with his uncle, Jamie, and aunt, Claire. As he reconnects with his family, Ian struggles with his past and future. He also starts a romance with a Quaker named Rachel. Bell has earlier appeared in shows like Into the Badlands and Tracy Beaker Returns.
6) David Berry as Lord John Grey
David Berry plays Lord John Grey in Outlander Season 7. As a Loyalist who supports the Crown, he stays loyal to his beliefs while remaining friends with Jamie and Claire, even though they are on opposite sides.
In the new season, Lord John calls Claire to America to help his sick nephew, which causes her and Jamie to be separated again. Berry is famous for his roles in the shows Home and Away and A Place to Call Home.
7) Charles Vandervaart as William Ransom
Charles Vandervaart plays William Ransom, Lord John Grey’s son. However, he is unaware that he is Jamie’s son. William is part of the Convention Army, and he is unable to fight but helps the British Army in other ways.
In Outlander Season 7, he falls in love for the first time. Vandervaart has also been seen in shows like Murdoch Mysteries, The Stanley Dynamic, and Holly Hobbie.
8) Andrew Whipp as Brian Fraser
Andrew Whipp reprises his role as Brian Fraser in Outlander season 7. Brian, Jamie and Jenny’s father, died in season 1 after a stroke. In this new season, he comes back, possibly because of Roger’s time travel or through flashbacks.
Brian’s return could explore more of Jamie’s past and the Fraser family history. Whipp’s other television credits include The Mallorca Files, The White Princess, Death in Paradise, and EastEnders.
9) Izzy Meikle-Small as Rachel Hunter
Izzy Meikle-Small returns as Rachel Hunter. She is a Quaker and a pacifist, but she supports the fight for an independent America. She started a romance with Young Ian in season 7 part 1, but now that Ian is back in Scotland, she faces a challenge in her love life.
In season 7 part 2, Rachel finds herself caught in a love triangle as William, Jamie’s son, also falls for her. Meikle-Small has previously been seen in miniseries like Great Expectations and The 7.39.
10) Graham McTavish as Dougal MacKenzie
Graham McTavish returns as Dougal MacKenzie in Outlander Season 7. Dougal is the War Chieftain of Clan MacKenzie and plays an important role as his brother Colum’s loyal second-in-command. McTavish is famous for portraying Dwalin in The Hobbit film series.
11) Nell Hudson as Laoghaire MacKenzie
Nell Hudson portrays Laoghaire Fraser. She was once a young maiden at Castle Leoch who became infatuated with Jamie and grew jealous of Claire. Her immaturity and jealousy seem to follow her as she gets older. Hudson is known for her roles in the shows The Irregulars and The Doll Factory.
