Oskar's family issues in Go Ahead, Brother
Oskar’s father commits suicide
In Go Ahead, Brother, Oskar’s problems start right at his home, where he has a father who is a gambling addict and has put the family in a lot of debt. Oskar has to repay his father’s debt most of the time, and that naturally makes him angry and frustrated at him.
The day Oskar is fired from his job, he understandably returns home in a bad mood. Therefore, when his father asks him if he should kill himself, Oskar asks him to positively follow that idea.
Unfortunately, his father takes it seriously and commits suicide the following day. Despite not being on the best terms with his father, his death naturally makes Oskar a little sad and guilty.

Oskar does not want to sell his house

This angers Marta, and she reminds Oskar of all the debts they have to pay back. Moreover, they learned that their father had been paying some loan shark every month, and the debt was also relatively high there.
The issue of money and his being fired from the job add to the tension at his home.

Oskar puts Sylwek’s life in danger
Oskar’s sister Marta is married to Sylwek, Oskar’s friend and ex-colleague. While planning for a robbery at the house of his boss at the mall, Oskar unfortunately finds himself in soup, and it is only for Sylwek that he is saved.
However, though Oskar had previously explained to Sylwek that he would be stealing from a thief, none knew that this man was connected to another powerful criminal.
The situation escalates with criminals chasing both Oskar and Sylwek, putting their families in danger. Sylwek gets himself abducted to ensure that Oskar successfully takes away Marta and Yeva (Oskar’s love interest).
However, Oskar does not give up on Sylwek and reaches where he is kept hostage. Though Sylwek thinks they cannot survive, Oskar does not give up hope.
Ultimately, Oskar has to kill a couple of people to get Sylwek out of danger. However, he successfully rescues Sylwek and meets Marta, who has unfortunately lost the baby. Oskar also finds his happily ever after with Yeva before the story ends.
Therefore, despite having multiple family issues and being accused by Marta of turning everything into ash wherever he goes, Oskar saves the day in the end, even if it comes at heavy prices.
