Halle Berry, who played Jinx in Die Another Day, kicked things off by honoring Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson, who have been Bond producers for quite a long time now. She reflected on her time working with them, saying:

"I had the great pleasure of working with Barbara and Michael on Die Another Day. And let me tell you, they don't just produce Bond movies, they were the heart and soul of the franchise for decades. Then came the James Bond tribute. It was some classic Bond scenes and live performances of some of the franchise’s most iconic theme songs. Lisa from Blackpink rocked out to "Live and Let Die," Doja Cat to "Diamonds Are Forever," and British singer Raye to "Skyfall." But the real surprise was Margaret Qualley. Oscars James Bond tribute: Why was Margaret Qualley really there?

This was totally unexpected in Oscars 2025. Qualley is known for Maid and The Substance. But she has never been part of the James Bond universe. Then why was she included in this tribute?

There are two possibilities. First, it was just a fun Oscars moment. The tribute needed a really pepped-up performance, and Qualley was already attending as part of The Substance. So she fit the bill. Simple as that.
