The 2025 Oscars went all out for James Bond. There were legendary theme songs and a montage of 007’s most thrilling moments. The night was an absolute treat for Bond fans. But there was something that got everyone talking. And it was Margaret Qualley’s unexpected appearance during the tribute.
Is she the next Bond girl? While there’s no official confirmation, her presence did raise some eyebrows at the tribute. So, was it just a cool performance, or was it something more than that? Let’s break it all down.

Oscars James Bond tribute

Halle Berry, who played Jinx in Die Another Day, kicked things off by honoring Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson, who have been Bond producers for quite a long time now. She reflected on her time working with them, saying:
"I had the great pleasure of working with Barbara and Michael on Die Another Day. And let me tell you, they don't just produce Bond movies, they were the heart and soul of the franchise for decades. Every generation does have their Bond, you know? The world revolves — it evolves, and so does he. But that signature mix of danger, style, and intrigue...well, now that's timeless. Tonight, we pay tribute to Barbara and Michael, and to our favorite spy. "
Then came the James Bond tribute. It was some classic Bond scenes and live performances of some of the franchise’s most iconic theme songs. Lisa from Blackpink rocked out to "Live and Let Die," Doja Cat to "Diamonds Are Forever," and British singer Raye to "Skyfall." But the real surprise was Margaret Qualley. She was dressed in red, dancing alongside tuxedo-clad performers. And needless to say, totally stealing the spotlight!

Oscars James Bond tribute: Why was Margaret Qualley really there?
This was totally unexpected in Oscars 2025. Qualley is known for Maid and The Substance. But she has never been part of the James Bond universe. Then why was she included in this tribute?
There are two possibilities. First, it was just a fun Oscars moment. The tribute needed a really pepped-up performance, and Qualley was already attending as part of The Substance. So she fit the bill. Simple as that.
Second, it could be a sneaky tease. Hollywood loves a good Easter egg. As we all know, Amazon MGM is taking over the Bond franchise. So they might be hinting at something. Could Qualley be on their radar for the next Bond film?
For now, there’s no official word on casting for Bond 26. The franchise has no confirmed director, writer, or even lead actor. Aaron Taylor-Johnson is just rumored to be the next 007. Even that’s not sure.
That being said, Qualley as a Bond girl is not a bad idea. Plus, with Bond girls evolving from mere love interests to powerful characters in their own right, Qualley could fit right in.
And after that performance in Oscars 2025, it wouldn’t be surprising if she’s at least being considered.
