One major reason why Daniel Blake might be killed off in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, possibilities revealed

Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 is currently in production, and there are rumors that Daniel Blake (played by Michael Gandolfini) might be killed off in the next season.

Daredevil: Born Again Season 1 ended with Matt finding out it was Vanessa who had ordered Foggy's death, and Frank Castle, aka Punisher, returning to help Matt. Fisk set up the AVTF that imprisons Frank, but he manages to escape. Matt's partner, Heather Glenn, accepts a job offered by Fisk, and Matt finds out Karen has feelings for both him and Frank.

While we can guess how the next season might progress, it is most likely going to kill off a character. Marvel usually kills off a character either when they are crucial to the story or when their death won't affect the story significantly. Foggy's death was the pivotal moment that shifted Matt's storyline; however, killing off Daniel Blake will not affect the story too much, yet heighten the tension for Daredevil: Born Again Season 2.

Why Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 might kill off Daniel Blake

Daniel Blake is supposed to return for Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, but as we saw in Season 1, he is on thin ice. While he is a fan of Wilson Fisk and now works as Deputy Mayor for Communications for him, Fisk is not too fond of Blake. Blake has made mistakes, and if he continues to do so, Fisk may never value him.

Since filming for Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 has started, set photos have appeared online. The pictures suggest that the next season will follow the comic Devil's Reign. It is a comic by Chip Zdarsky that follows a storyline similar to what the Season 1 finale alluded to. Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 will most likely follow the comic that focuses on heroes getting targeted by Wilson Fisk.

The comic is very similar to what the Daredevil: Born Again Season 1 finale suggested. Wilson Fisk might be smart, but Matt Murdock and his team of heroes are going to fight to beat him at his own game. Daniel Blake, being such a loyal follower of Fisk, can easily end up getting hurt as collateral damage.

Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 is also taking inspiration from Shadowland, which follows Daredevil's techniques becoming dark and him becoming the head of the Hand Ninja Clan. Set photos have also shown Charlie Cox in a black suit instead of the usual red, which is also similar to Shadowland. The high stakes of Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 will most likely lead to Blake dying protecting Fisk or just being killed because he got too involved in Fisk's corruption.

Daniel Blake's devotion towards Wilson Fisk, aka the Kingpin, is suspicious, to say the least. He can become a valuable ally to Fisk or a liability. Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 will decide Daniel's fate, but it looks like he is going to be killed off. He is a character who is not too important to the story, yet if he is killed by the vigilantes or Fisk, it will raise the season's stakes higher.

All episodes of Daredevil: Born Again Season 1 are streaming on Disney+. Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 is supposed to be released in 2026, approximately in March.
