Deli Boys premiered on Hulu on March 6, 2025, with all of its 10 episodes dropping together. Critics and viewers have fairly well received the show, therefore, conversations about a potential season 2 have naturally opened up.
The official synopsis of Deli Boys mentions,
“When their convenience store-magnate father suddenly dies, a pair of pampered Pakistani American brothers lose everything and are forced to reckon with their Baba's secret life of crime as they attempt to take up his mantle in the underworld.”
According to executive producer Jenni Konner, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter, who is behind shows like Girls, Single Drunk Woman, and Nobody Wants This,
“This is the first noisy show I've been on since 'Girls.' People are talking about it.”
Konner also teased a possibility of a second season while also mentioning that it might be too early to have that conversation. Let us now explore in detail what Konner said and if a Deli Boys Season 2 is on the horizon.
Deli Boys executive producer Jeni Konner teased a second season for the Hulu show
Since it's been only a few days since the first season of Deli Boys has dropped, it is natural to not have any concrete update on a potential second season. However, the first season ended on a cliffhanger, which keeps the possibility of another season open.
Executive producer Konner also seemed hopeful about the same as she mentioned in an interview with Hollywood Reporter. She said,
“What’s always fun in any writers room is that in season one, you pitch things that are so great and you’re like, “that will be great in a season two.” It’s too early. We don’t have some huge mega-plan, but we do have this storage of really fun, weird ideas that may or may not emerge. We left it on a huge cliffhanger. We could end anyway we feel like. It’s like, who did this thing? Who blew up the deli? We have all of these ways to go. It will be fun to figure out what to do with these boys.”
She also mentioned that during the shooting, they came to know the actors better, and in ways they can be utilized well. She added,
“Those guys are really funny together. Or the Maaliks, we intended to kill them all off, and we just fell in love with them. So it’s always fun to figure out what’s great [on-screen]. In Girls, we were like, “Ray (Alex Karpovsky) and Shoshana (Zosia Mamet) are so funny together. Let’s keep that going.” It was one scene that we were like, they have such funny energy together, and we wrote to it. That’s one of my favorite things about writing and having the good fortune of having a show that keeps running.”
Her words clearly show that she is quite enthusiastic about a second season and given how the storyline has been developed, it would be logical that Deli Boys get another season.
However, until anything is confirmed officially by the production house or the concerned teams, it's all speculation and discussions.
Deli Boys can be streamed on Hulu.
