If you are wondering why it has been a dark week with no One Chicago episodes premiering, we have some news for you. According to confirmations from the NBC official schedule, Chicago PD, Chicago Fire, and Chicago Med are going back on a hiatus, but luckily, it's a small one this time.

One Chicago is nearing its finale season as the 2024-25 broadcast season comes to an end. With just a couple more episodes left before the season finale premieres, there will be a short break before the show returns for a series of final episodes.

Here's everything we know about this short hiatus.

One Chicago Hiatus: When will new episodes premiere?

After the mini two-week hiatus in March, One Chicago is going on its final break for the 2024-25 broadcasting season. According to the NBC official schedule, there will be no new episodes from Chicago PD, Chicago Fire, and Chicago Med on the last Wednesday of the month, April 30.

On April 30, reruns of Chicago PD, Chicago Fire, and Chicago Med will be streaming while the shows are on their final break before the final few episodes for this season. Luckily, this break will only be a week long, and the shows will be returning with their final few episodes a week later.

Chicago PD, Chicago Fire, and Chicago Med have only three episodes left to premiere for this broadcast season, which will air in May 2025. The shows will return after their one-week hiatus on Wednesday, May 7, with new episodes.

After May 1, the NBC dramas will air without breaks till May 21. Sadly, though, Chicago PD, Chicago Fire, and Chicago Med are all set to premiere their season finales on May 21 before concluding. We won't get to see them again with new episodes until next broadcast season.

Currently, there is no news about how the final few episodes of the most-watched NBC shows will turn out, but if there is one thing that can be said about One Chicago—that they don't hold back from leaving fans with major cliffhangers.

According to reports, Chicago Fire has some emotional goodbyes in store for its viewers, as two major characters, Darren Ritter and Sam Carver, are set to leave the series after Season 13 owing to budget cuts. There might be more departures on the way from the other two NBC shows, but there is no confirmation yet.

While Chicago PD, Chicago Fire, and Chicago Med are on their final break, reruns will air in their time slots. You can also catch up on the story so far in the One Chicago universe by streaming the shows on Peacock and get ready for the final three episodes of the season.

The shows have yet to be officially renewed for new seasons. However, given that they are currently among NBC’s most popular series, fans can likely expect to see the One Chicago cast return for the 2025–26 broadcast season. Hopefully, the wait won’t be too long.
