One Chicago is gearing up for the first three-show crossover event in five years! A recently released teaser provided an exclusive look at the upcoming One Chicago crossover to be released on January 29.

This happened for the last time in 2019 and would mark the first occasion in five years in which popular characters from the three NBC shows Chicago Fire, Med, and P.D. will be coming together under a single narrative thread.

The official logline for the upcoming episode reads:

"When a gas explosion rocks a high-rise, Chicago’s first responders come out in force to rescue hundreds of civilians. It’s the calamity beneath the surface, however, that sends our heroes on a race to save 40 people trapped deep underground, including two of their own."

As a result, the upcoming One Chicago crossover episode will feature a collaboration between the medics from Gaffney Medical Center, the agents of the Intelligence Bureau, and the staffers from Firehouse 51 as they all come together in an attempt to save the day.

The recently released promo featured Chicago Fire's chief Dom Pascal, Lt. Stella Kidd as well as Sergeant Hank Voight. Here's all that we know.

What's the latest buzz about the One Chicago promo?

A newly released promotional teaser for One Chicago has placed the scope of the entire narrative in perspective. The promo shows Chicago Fire's Stella Kidd and P.D.'s Adam Ruzek trapped below in a train after a gas explosion. To make matters worse, the captive humans' air supply is running low.

Ruzek and Kidd are not the only people at risk. Trudy Platt of P.D. is also seen fainting and finally crashing at Med, as her husband, Mouch, looks on in alarm. The seriousness of the situation becomes clear to people above ground, particularly Kidd's husband, Kelly Severide when his wife no longer answers her radio.

Gwen Sigan opens up about Trudy Platt's role on One Chicago

The character of Trudy Platt is arguably a fan favorite. She seldom appears in the primary narrative of a Chicago PD episode, but her presence and counsel to the other characters are vital.

However, the One Chicago crossover event can be anticipated to turn Platt's standing from a supporting character to an integral part of the arc. According to the crossover's promo teaser, the Platt will be injured in the building explosion that drives the narrative and will be transported to the hospital.

Chicago PD boss Gwen Sigan recently confirmed in an interview with TV Insider that Platt is slated to have an increased screentime:

"We got to give Amy a lot to do and it was really exciting. I mean, she’s so good and I feel like we were finally able to give her something different. I think you’ll see a different side of her character in the crossover, which is nice."

Anastasia Puglisi is Executive Vice President at Wolf Entertainment as well as the co-executive producer of the One Chicago shows. She recently said in a statement:

"Putting together what is essentially a three-hour action movie is an incredibly ambitious task requiring complete coordination across our writers, casts, crews and producers, along with help from the city of Chicago. We’re thrilled to have the best talent in every department to meet this challenge, reinforce the #OneChicago brand, and provide our fans with a unique and compelling viewing experience."

The crossover episode premieres on January 29, 2025, at 8 PM ET on NBC.
