Amazon Prime Video's On Call is Wolf Entertainment's first scripted streaming show and the first to have a run-time of thirty minutes.

Dick Wolf is popularly known for his procedurals and is the creator of franchises like Law & Order, One Chicago and FBI. This latest scripted police procedural is created by his son Elliot Wolf and Tim Walsh, and Dick serves as an executive producer on the show.

Considering his father's long legacy with police procedurals with Law & Order and Chicago P.D., fans were wondering whether On Call is part of the One Chicago franchise, which comprises three shows: Chicago Med, Chicago Fire, and Chicago P.D.

On Call is not a part of the One Chicago Universe yet, but there is a possibility of a crossover.

Read on to learn more about On Call and how it is different from other Wolf Entertainment shows.

On Call is not a part of One Chicago Universe yet

On Call stars Troian Bellisario and Brandon Larracuente as Officers Traci and Alex, respectively, and the show is set in Long Island Beach, unlike the One Chicago shows, which are set in the titular Windy city.

For a show to be part of the same universe, it needs geographical similarities, which On Call currently lacks. But that does not separate it entirely from Wolf's other franchises. For Instance, Law & Order is set in New York, but it has had previous crossover episodes with the One Chicago Franchise.

There are chances that Amazon's latest could have a crossover with Chicago P.D., since the premise of both the shows are mostly similar, police officers on patrol.

In an interview with Variety, Elliot Wolf gave this cryptic reply when asked if the show shares the same universe:

''They never are until they are,”

He also opened up about the style in which his latest series has been shot:

“There’s no more relatable lens than the iPhone. Dash cam and body cam is all over the internet, the news. You see it in your week-to-week life. So, how can we create a storytelling experience, a fictional experience that feels that much more real, and hopefully that much more visceral, like you’re on the ground with these officers?”

On Call shares an actor with the One Chicago Universe

Fans of Chicago Fire must have recognized Monica Raymund's Officer Maria Delgado in On Call Episode 1. Raymund was a main cast member in Chicago Fire for six seasons as firefighter Gaby Dawson.

She officially left the show after season 6, and fans were excited to see her in Wolf's latest, although she dies in the first episode.

When asked about this character overlap and whether it would affect a possible crossover between On Call and One Chicago franchise, Elliot cited some other actors who have appeared as different characters in more than one Wolf Entertainment show.

He cited actors Dylan McDermott and Jesse Lee Soffer, who have appeared in multiple Dick Wolf shows, and talked about a possible crossover:

“I think that there’s a lot of people who would have to figure a lot of stuff out if that were to ever happen, but we’re on the west coast. It’s a flight away...We’ll see.”
