Shark Tank investor, Robert Herjavec, is a business expert who founded Herjavec Group in 2003 which is now known as Cyderes. The cyber security company has expanded its operations centers in Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, and India as per Robert's official ABC bio. Apart from being a successful entrepreneur, Robert is a motivational speaker and posts content related to making wise financial decisions and investments on his social media accounts.
An Instagram reel was posted to The School of Greatness podcast's official account where Robert Herjavec appeared as a guest. During his conversation with Lewis Howes, the Shark Tank investor shared the lessons he learned from billionaires. One of the important lessons for Robert was their "obsession about their skill set."
According to Herjavec, the main reason behind the success of billionaires was having expertise in a specific field and polished skill sets. He explained:
"Number one is absolute obsession about their skill set. Not about the world in general but about that one thing. Like all the billionaires I know would struggle on jeopardy."
Shark Tank investor Robert shares lessons to achieve success
The Shark Tank investor stated that "specific knowledge" is what got them ahead in life. Developing a specific skill and working towards a goal after narrowing the options down gets rewarded unlike having general knowledge. Robert suggested that having a clear path and being an expert at what you do brings confidence and increases the chances of taking beneficial risks. He further explained:
"General knowledge doesn't get rewarded, specific knowledge. I don't know a single billionaire that isn't a world-class expert at a very narrow task. The second one would be curiosity. It's hard to be abundant if you're not curious, right like, I love to learn."
The second lesson Herjavec learned was to always be curious and open to learning rather than having a rigid mindset. Discipline is also mandatory to achieve success and abundance. As per the Shark Tank investor, having a healthy mind and body as well as a successful business is linked to achieving discipline in life. He continued:
"And the third one would be discipline. Now discipline to me is a fit body, fit mind, and fit business."
Robert's journey to success wasn't an easy one, he was an immigrant who came to Canada with his parents. Despite facing a financial crisis at a young age, Herjavec was determined to change his life. Reflecting on the pathway to becoming rich, Robert evaluated Charlie Munger's life in his December 8, 2024, YouTube video.
The Shark Tank investor shared the impact of quiet wealth and that making money is not an end goal but rather a means to elevate a person's lifestyle. He explained:
"Wealth does not always express itself the way you think. Never assume that the one with the flashiest toys is the richest one. In fact, in my experience, quiet wealth is usually the most powerful and biggest wealth. If you need to tell people how rich you are in general, you're probably not that rich."
New episodes of Shark Tank air exclusively on ABC on Fridays at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT.
