Daredevil: Born Again not only set up the story of Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock on a grand scale, but it also brought back several characters from the Defenders timeline. While the appearance of such characters as Frank Castle and Wilson Fisk established the connection between Daredevil: Born Again and Netflix's Daredevil, there's one character that appeared for his eleventh appearance in the MCU and went relatively unnoticed by the media and fans of the show alike.

Pat Kiernan has been a part of the MCU for the last thirteen years, appearing in numerous titles as the news anchor and announcer, reflecting on the key events of the canonized timeline. Here's everything that we know.

Daredevil: Born Again marks Pat Kiernan's 11th MCU appearance

Pat Kiernan appears as himself, i.e., a morning news anchor on the network NY1. He was seen on the Disney+ show reporting on Wilson Fisk's mayoral campaign prior to Fisk's victory as the new mayor of the city after winning by a 53% vote share. While Kiernan's appearance on the show might come across as microscopic, albeit tiny, it goes on to highlight one of the details that make Daredevil: Born Again congruent in keeping with the MCU timeline.

Pat Kiernan was first seen in 2012's Avengers, wherein he appeared as himself reporting on the dramatic Battle of New York. This was followed by his appearance in Iron Man 3, where he reported about Mandarin. He was next seen on Doctor Strange and also notably on Spider-Man: Far From Home, spotted on the Daily Bugle news coverage. By keeping the string of Kiernan's long-running appearances on MCU titles unchanged, the Disney+ show has ticked off all the boxes towards ensuring a permanent position for itself with the Marvel canon.

Matt Murdock and Charlie Cox speak about Daredevil: Born Again

The duo of Cox and D'Onofrio have earned remarkable praise for being the two pivots around which the entire Disney+ show's debut season revolves. While the season ended with a temporary victory for Fisk, with the mayoral seat under his command and the Anti-Vigilante Task Force poised to wreak havoc on the city, it remains to be seen whether the second season will feature Murdock turning the tables. While speaking in an exclusive interview with USA Today, Cox commented:

"Matt Murdock is more of a lie than Daredevil is true. He's the lawyer trying to function within ordinary rule of law, but at the same time he is deceiving pretty much everyone. Murdock leans into the antithesis of what a hero is and can cross over into the darkness on numerous occasions. He feels like he is physically being pulled in two different directions."

Vincent D'Onofrio further added about his character of Wilson Fisk:

"What fills the suit is more interesting than the suit itself. The more dangerous he is and becomes, the more fun it is to see him sitting and having lunch with his wife. The things they talk about are so odd and so strange because she's just as messed up, in a much different way. But still they make a great couple because of that.”

Daredevil: Born Again is exclusively available on Disney+.
