Some exciting news about Nine Perfect Strangers Season 2 has finally arrived, and the first look guarantees an experience just as fascinating as the previous season.

Nicole Kidman (Bewitched) reprises her role as the puzzling ‘wellness guru’ Masha Dmitrichenko, this time managing an all-new group of distressed guests in a noticeably different setting.

Trading the rich greens of Season 1’s California retreat for the freezing attractiveness and prettiness of the Austrian Alps, Season 2 shifts its backdrop but preserves the central idea of the show: a dreamlike, transformational, psychologically and emotionally intricate journey.

Nicole Kidman, in an interview with Vanity Fair, shared:

“You put them in the snow because it’s almost like you can’t escape, but it’s still very beautiful…”

From sunny paradise to snow-covered sanctuary - First look at Nine Perfect Strangers Season 2

Airing soon on May 21 on Hulu in the U.S. and May 22 worldwide on Prime Video, Nine Perfect Strangers Season 2 introduces an entirely new set of guests in search of consolation and support under Masha’s avant-garde care.

While Season 1 took place in a bright and sunny resort, this time, the retreat is set in an out-of-the-way, snow-sheltered, lavish cabin. The magnificent backdrop introduced this season isn't just for aesthetics; rather, it acts as a character on its own, influencing the guests and their experiences.

Kidman explains this in the Vanity Fair interview, where she emphasizes the retreat’s merger of calmness, serenity, and psychological concentration.

The retreat setting isn’t the only thing that seems to be changing in the second season of Nine Perfect Strangers.

Masha herself has undergone a transformation, shedding her earthy, flowy clothing in favor of an unusually sharper look. Kidman now calls Masha a “shape-shifter” because:

"She morphs. She adapts…"

A star-studded cast with emotional baggage

Season 2 of Nine Perfect Strangers also features a remarkable ensemble cast.

Some cast members include Henry Golding (Crazy Rich Asians), Annie Murphy (Story of Jen), Christine Baranski (Mamma Mia!), Murray Bartlett (Looking), Dolly de Leon (Triangle of Sadness), and Mark Strong (RocknRolla), each playing the role of new clients who arrive with deep personal struggles.

Their retreat, however, is more than just an escape—it’s a confrontation with their pasts, guided by Masha’s eccentric methods.

Nicole Kidman, who spent six months filming across Austria and Germany, described how the captivating and enticing filming locations influenced the cast’s performances.

Unlike Season 1, which was filmed under strict pandemic limitations, this experience felt intensely communal. To this, Kidman says:

"I really do believe the air and the scenery and the way in which we all existed as a little troop out there in the wilderness, it really helps infiltrate the show…"

The realism extends to the very landscape—those snow-white mountaintops aren’t just part of a set; they’re the real deal.

As for Masha’s methods? They remain just as provocative and stimulating as before. Psychedelic-assisted therapy once again plays an important role in her approach, allowing both her and her guests to navigate some of their deepest and darkest wounds.

Masha, too, is in search of renewal, particularly after the legal and financial troubles she faced in Season 1. Now working with new partners like Martin (played by Lucas Englander) and Helena (played by Lena Olin), she continues to push boundaries—occasionally even clashing with those closest to her.

While much about Nine Perfect Strangers Season 2 remains under wraps, Kidman hints that the season is packed with unexpected twists and deeply revealing moments.

"Come and time travel with us…go back, go forward, and go to places you’ve never been."

With a spectacular new snow-capped setting, a fresh cast of characters, and Masha at the center of another mind-boggling journey, Nine Perfect Strangers Season 2 is shaping up to be a mesmerizing and well-blended story.
