After debuting in 2021, Nine Perfect Strangers is coming back for a second round on Hulu. Although it got the green light for more episodes in 2023, information about the new season has been as elusive as a celebrity at a no-paparazzi resort. But the good news is that the cameras have stopped rolling, actors are ready, and we're finally getting details about what's in store.

Nicole Kidman is back in the saddle as the mysterious wellness expert, Masha, leads folks looking for a life makeover at a different retreat. We don't have an exact date for when we can binge-watch it yet, but whispers say Nine Perfect Strangers might show up again before the end of 2025.

So, let's see what we've found out so far!

Nine Perfect Strangers Season 2 cast, filming & location

One of the main things everyone's been wondering about Nine Perfect Strangers Season 2 is if Nicole Kidman will come back to the show. She absolutely will! Nicole Kidman is returning to her part as Masha Dmitrichenko, the character that had us all hooked.

But she's not going to be by herself; Hulu has brought together a fantastic bunch of new actors to be part of the show. Some of these people are Henry Golding, who you might remember from Crazy Rich Asians, Mark Strong, who was in Kingsman, Christine Baranski from The Gilded Age, Murray Bartlett from The White Lotus, and Annie Murphy, who made us laugh in Schitt’s Creek.

They've been working hard on this new season of Nine Perfect Strangers since early 2024, filming it in Munich, Germany.

Henry Golding talked to Variety and said they finished filming on July 20, 2024:

“I just spent six months in Munich with Nicole Kidman shooting Season 2 of Nine Perfect Strangers.”

So far, no official pictures or videos have given a taste of what's coming up, but just knowing the setting is so different is enough to get us excited.

Nine Perfect Strangers Season 2 plot

Nine Perfect Strangers Season 2 will have Masha guiding a fresh bunch of guests on what's claimed to be a life-changing retreat in the Swiss Alps. But, if we've learned anything from the previous season, appearances can be quite deceiving. Murray Bartlett, who plays Brian, a former kids' TV host with a peculiar companion—a puppet—hints to Screen Rant about what we can expect.

He said,

“It’s an amazing cast, there are some great twists and turns in the story this season, and we shot in the most beautiful locations. It’s kinda gothic this season.”

With Bartlett’s words to ponder, it seems like the show will be into psychology and possibly the supernatural. The first season of Nine Perfect Strangers had topics like overcoming trauma, finding healing, and the effects of drugs on spiritual growth. Season 2 promises to extend these themes in greater depth.

One of the main puzzles for the upcoming season is the return of Masha. The last season left us with her being taken away by the authorities, so it's quite the question of how she'll re-enter the storyline. Maybe she'll come back with a new identity or somehow sidestep the legal consequences she was facing.

In this new season, we're bound to encounter more twists, power dynamics playing out, and characters dealing with their past traumas as they try to construct a better future for themselves. Nine Perfect Strangers will surely keep us on our toes as each guest grapples with their demons in a bid to move ahead.

When the time comes for us to tune in, those in the U.S. can catch Season 2 exclusively on Hulu. For folks outside the U.S., you might enjoy the show on Prime Video or Disney+, but this depends on where you live.
