Ever since Norman Osborn appeared in the last scene of the first episode of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man "Amazing Fantasy," his intentions remained unclear.
Norman and later even Harry go on to become the Green Goblin, Peter's arch nemesis in the Marvel Comics lore. Five episodes in, fans are wondering if Osborn, in this reality, will transform into the Goblin.
Actor Colman Domingo was recently interviewed by known YouTuber Josh Horowitz for the latter's Happy Sad Confused Podcast. In that interview, the actor touched on a wide range of topics, from his Oscar-nominated movie Sing Sing to his role as Norman Osborn in Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. While speaking about the latter, Domingo confirmed that Osborn would indeed become the Green Goblin in the future.
What did Colman Domingo say about Green Goblin in Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man?
Norman Osborn/Green Goblin actor Colman Domingo was interviewed by Happy Sad Confused Podcast's Josh Horowitz in a 50-minute session. The Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man actor spoke about his interest in working with Marvel. While Norman may look innocent or well-intentioned at this point of this Spider-Man animated series, the actor teased that the innocence was short-lived.
Simultaneously, the Green Goblin actor expressed his interest and desire to portray Norman Osborn and his supervillain alter-ego in live-action. Here's what Colman Domingo told Josh Horowitz:
"Its [Your Friendly Neighborhood] cool, but I do want to get the live-action out, too. Wouldn't that be kind of cool? I would love to tear that up on the big screen. But I'm having a good time, I love the animation. I love the idea of playing Norman Osborn and you'll see his evolution as the Green Goblin in the coming seasons."
The last part confirms that this version of Norman Osborn, like his comic book counterpart, will experiment on himself at one point. Something will go wrong in that experiment, as it always does with this character, which will ultimately transform into one of Spider-Man's most dangerous foes: Green Goblin.
What is Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man about?
The latest Disney+ animated series featuring the wall-crawler is set in an alternate universe. While this universe has Avengers, Peter's mentor is none other than Norman Osborn, i.e., the hero's challenging foe, Green Goblin. For now, Norman seems to be helping Peter, but his intentions are unclear.
But based on Colman Domingo's recent comments, he hasn't transformed into the Goblin yet. For now, he seems to have taken Ned Leed's role, as the latter supposedly doesn't exist in this universe. The synopsis for the show reads:
"'Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man' follows Peter Parker on his way to becoming a hero, with a journey unlike we've ever seen and a style that celebrates the character’s early comic book roots."
