Yellowjackets Season 3 has one last episode left to air before it concludes its third season. This season has revealed some dark sides of the characters, which was quite a surprise for fans. Joel McHale, who plays Kodiak in Yellowjackets Season 3, has opened up about how discreet he had to be on the show.
Yellowjackets, the Paramount Plus show, revolves around a high school girls' soccer team from New Jersey and their coaches who survived a 1996 plane crash. Despite surviving it, they are stranded in the Canadian wilderness for months. The show follows their survival journey and the repercussions of this incident on their lives two decades later, in 2021.
Joel McHale on How Discreet Yellowjackets Season 3 Was
Joel McHale plays Kodiak on Yellowjackets Season 3 and is one of the three individuals who stumble upon the soccer team in the wilderness while they are participating in cannibalism. Kodiak is a wilderness guide who went on a hike with two hikers, Hannah and Edwin.

Joel McHale, in an interview with Screen Rant, shared how secretive everything on set was. Yellowjackets is one of the most discreet shows that has multiple fan theories. It makes sense as to why the team is very careful not to leak any spoilers. As Joel McHale tells Screen Rant,
I'm scared to do press to say anything wrong. Everything was a secret, every script you get is watermarked. Obviously, that happens with a lot of things, but the speculation of the fans — I mean, I've been on a few things that have big fan bases that I've been so lucky to become part of the family for a moment, or the entire time for the rest of it.
McHale also explains more reasons for the secrecy,
But to walk right into a hit show like that, and with a cast that was super cool and fun, and I was like, "Wow," everyone's working really hard. We're out there in the woods, and they have to protect the set from people just wandering onto it and taking parts of it, so they have to keep moving it. I'm not going to tell you where it is, it's in Narnia! [Chuckles]
Joel McHale's dedication to keeping every detail of Yellowjackets Season 3 secret has helped in revealing one of the most shocking twists of the show to audiences. Despite his having already aired, Joel is still keeping quiet about the details. He further elaborates,
But it was one of the more secretive things that I've [been part of], I think The X-Files was the other one where I was like, "Oh, they're not going to show me the as much of the script as I want to see, because they're worried it's going to get out." And Yellowjackets does a great job. They did a great job, and I'm not going to tell you at all what happens. It was super fun, and they were like, "Here's your crossbow, you're kind of psycho." I was like, "Great!" [Chuckles]
Yellowjackets Season 3 releases on Paramount Plus with Showtime on Fridays and air on Showtime's linear channel on Sundays. Except for the last episode of the third season, all episodes of Yellowjackets are available to stream on Paramount Plus.
